Perutz was in direct competition with Pauling on the structure of fibrous proteins, but was the shining star in the study of globular proteins in which Pauling never became involved. current
  • 21:0921:09, 5 May 2024 diff hist −63 J. D. Bernal→‎Career and research: This gives the complete wrong impression and includes irrelevant details about Franklin. Although Aaron Klug started working on ribonuclesase when he joined Bernal's unit, he switched to tobacco mosaic virus after Franklin joined. And, of course, this was the structure he continued to work on and for which he received the Nobel Prize. His obituary in the Royal Society makes this clear.
  • 20:4820:48, 5 May 2024 diff hist +24 Aaron Klug→‎Career and research: The description of Franklin as a virologist is just plain wrong. Although she worked on the structure of TMV in Bernal's lab, she had never worked on viruses before or after. I merely echo the Wikipedia entry where it is clear that she had a degree in chemistry, and relates her well-known on the X-ray crystallography of DNA.
