The article was confusing in that it highlighted the scantly used "formal" definition of epsilon, and downplayed the mainsteam definition as a "variant". Moreover, the original article did not use terminology to differentiate between the two, calling both "machine epsilon" interchangeably. Here I differentiate with prefixes "rounding" and "interval". I hope this helps.
