The most famous of the Nakh peoples up to the 18th century were the Ingush. The Ingush always called themselves “Ghalgha”, which was their self-name meaning “tower dwellers”, and under this self-name they were known to other peoples. The Chechens' self-name was not known to other peoples, only the Ingush, who were their closest relatives, called them “Nohchi”. undo Tags: Reverted Visual edit
