The IT Media Amano quote is a scrubquote, from all accounts the pair were BUFFED on the NDS version (Nara is one of the weakest characters of any RPG in the NES version). The Futabanet source is about "Gypsy Dance", the battle music, not the overworld theme. Adjust plot section a tad, checked the NDS script for comparison and yep, they know it's Balzack from the start there too. undo

There isn't really a detective mystery to the story; they know it was Balzack from the start, and just want vengeance. The reverse recruitment being "surprising" is only very thinly having anything to do with the two - it's about game structure that rather than meeting everyone in the same order, which would be standard, it's in reverse order. Just a minor point of DQ4 plot, Ragnar and the sisters as characters are just incidental. undo
