Dr. Oweini earned a B.Sc. in Chemistry with a Minor in Biology (2007) and an M.Sc. in Inorganic Chemistry (2009) from the American University of Beirut. In 2013, he received his Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry, supported by a DAAD scholarship, from Jacobs University (Bremen, Germany). He was later awarded an ITM-CNR Fellowship to conduct his postdoctoral studies at the University of Padova, Italy. He then joined Beirut Arab University where he has been an Assistant Professor of Inorganic Chemistry since 2014. His research interests are mainly focused on the synthesis and structural characterization of novel inorganic nano-materials and their use in water treatment, corrosion control, protein crystallization, biological and medicinal applications, as well as homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. Since 2019, he returned to his alma mater as Director of the Kamal A. Shair Central Research Science Laboratory (KAS CRSL), which serves research across AUB and constitutes a state-of-the-art platform essential for a thriving and progressive university research environment.
