How can we use literature and the arts as a tool for coping and healing? Join us in our 2nd edition of the Mental Health Awareness & Wellbeing Festival featuring migrant writers, local writers, and mental health professionals sharing about the many facets of mental health since the pandemic and beyond. This festival is presented by Migrant Writers of Singapore and supported by Sing Lit Station, The Majurity Trust, One Bag One Book and Tzu Chi Humanistic Youth Centre.

1.00pm - 1.20pm: Festival Opening

1.20pm - 2.20pm: Resilience: Playing to our Strengths [PANEL] This discussion brings together panelists with diverse perspectives to share about their experiences with mental health, resilience, support initiatives and resources available. Featuring: Jay Ong (Moderator), Dr Carol Loi (Singapore Red Cross Academy), Evelyn Obillo, Michael Cheah (HealthServe), Omar Sakib

2.20pm - 2.40 pm: Breach of Mind [PLAY] The lives of an advocate, counsellor, and migrant construction worker intersect as characters help each other overcome mental health obstacles.
Featuring: Akm Mazharul Abedin, Rachel Nip, Sonia Serrenade

2:40pm - 3.10pm: This is Me: Stories on Mental Health [STORYTELLING] How often do we miss out on the stories of people close to us because of our busy lives? In this storytelling programme, speakers celebrate the everyday and the commonplace. Featuring: Claire Betita de Guzman, Dimple Kaur, Mahita Vas, Sumun Biswas

3.10pm - 3.30pm: A Look At Mental Illness [TALK] This short talk provides a brief overview of common mental illnesses and serves to supplement conversations on mental health we aim to spark through this festival. Featuring: Serene Goh (Singapore Association for Mental Health)

3.30pm - 4.10pm: Laughter is Medicine [POETRY READING]
Poets draw from a common attitude of play found in both poetry and humour to look at situations from a different perspective and empower a greater sense of control.  Featuring: Abu Ubaidah Bin Eliase, Jedidiah Huang, Lorelyn De la Cruz Arevalo, Rema Tabangcura, Stephanie Dogfoot

4.10pm - 4.40pm: Mindfulness & Meditation [ACTIVITY]
After a jam-packed day of talks and performances, let’s wind down together and take stock of the present moment before parting our separate ways. Featuring: Chua Ning Pei 4.40pm - 5.00pm: Festival Closing
