Selected Option:

The Duel at Dangerford contains a RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha scenario in three acts by Nick Brooke featuring half the Provincial Army of Lunar Tarsh: Drama! Excitement! Betrayal! Foul Lunar Sorcery! Appendices suggest extra colour (and contain extensive SPOILERS) for two published scenarios: The Smoking Ruin and The Dragon of Thunder Hills. NB: the preview contains SPOILERS, so don't peek if you're a player!

Works as a prequel to my best-selling Hero Wars saga for RuneQuest, Black Spear.

"This is wonderful. The absolute love for the setting hits you straight in the mouth." -- Michael Kirkbride, Concept Artist & Writer for Morrowind.

GOLD BONUS CONTENT: to celebrate the Gold best-seller medal, a preview of Act One of Black Spear has been added to the downloads included with the digital edition of The Duel at Dangerford.

NEW BONUS CONTENT: to celebrate publication of the Japanese translation, a bonus pack of new artwork by Hirotsugu Kaga of Clark & Company has been added to the downloads: as a16 page PDF, and a ZIP archive containing 16 high-resolution images (portraits and scenes). The printed edition was updated in May 2022 to include the new artwork.

Looking forward to running this1 As I am just starting my campaign (Earth Season, 1625), are there any changes I need to make to fit into the RQG timeline? For instance, Queen Leika would not have suffered her illness.

My scenario doesn’t really believe in a canonical timeline. It’s set after Kallyr fails the Lightbringer’s Quest but before she dies at the Battle of Queens; your player get to see an opening move of the Tarsh Civil War, so if that’s already an established fact in your campaign you might need to make some adjustments.

If you want to run it with Healthy Kallyr, of course you can do that! (Are you planning to kill her at the Battle of Queens before she fails the Lightbringers’ Quest? More power to your elbow).

Only what happens around your table is real: that’s the RuneQuest Effect. Your Glorantha Will Vary! And that’s a wonderful, empowering thing!

Working on it now. The old print edition has been withdrawn from sale, while our printers put the new files through premedia checks.

I'm putting the finishing touches to Act 7 (out of 7), and the Epilogue. I still need a bit more art to come in, and maybe one or two maps. But other than that it's pretty much in the bag, at this point.

Brilliant. Ties in well with Glorantha's canonical history. An exciting and unique adventure. I'll be looking for more from Nick!

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
