Books | Journals | Tech News | Open Access | In the News | Share | *Top viewed new books in Q4 2019 (published Oct–Dec 2019) via iospress.com/books | Journals NEW JOURNAL WEBSITES: All IOS Press journals have dedicated communities – including the authors, editors, peer reviewers, readers, and not forgetting our own IOS Press team members – as well as a specific section on the IOS Press website. As journals develop, they grow. It is not only the amount of content that increases, but also the range of offerings to the journal's audience that can expand to include information on clinical trials, webinars, discussion boards, blogs, and more. This necessitates a more expansive and robust community-based web presence. In recent months, we have launched new websites for the following three existing journals: | Translational Science of Rare Diseases Link: journal.rarediseaseshub.com The new platform for Translational Science of Rare Diseases aims to stimulate multidisciplinary and international collaboration within the global rare diseases network. | TRENDING CONTENT: Looking only at our 2019 journal articles, the most viewed* content this quarter – across all IOS Press journals – highlights the latest medical discoveries for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases: | *Top viewed new journal content in Q4 2019 via content.iospress.com; the above papers are open access and had press releases issued to promote the content | NEW JOURNAL: The newest periodical to join our catalog of 80+ titles is the Journal of Future Robot Life. The new open access journal, which is now welcoming submissions, looks to the future and asks the question: What will robots be like 10, 20, and more years from now? | Tech News A new version of our linked data (LD) portal was released in October. LD Connect 2.0 provides linked metadata of all IOS Press books and journals to researchers, publishing analytics services, database developers, etc. enabling the following: Discoverability: Automatic discovery of datasets that improves internal workflows, e.g. structured data storage and automated content updates. Accessibility: Public availability of easily downloadable human- and machine-readable IOS Press metadata ready for further analysis. Interoperability: Data integrated with other data and interoperable with applications or workflows for analysis, storage and processing, for example scientometric applications to visualize, interpret and discover new relationships. Data Reusability: Data reusability is facilitated by a custom vocabulary and rigid adherence to open Web standards while describing our data. | Open Access Authors have the option to publish their articles with full open access across all IOS Press journals. It is also possible to publish Open Access Ebooks. Find out more about our Open Library here. Recent developments in this area are outlined below: Open Access Institutional Agreements The first "Read and Publish" agreement has been set up to support open access publishing for publicly financed research articles in our journals. The "Publish" element covers the article processing charges (APCs) for authors from affiliated institutions who wish to publish in IOS Press' hybrid and fully open access journals. Under the "Read" element, affiliated institutions are granted access to the IOS Press journals. The first agreement covers a selection of Dutch institutions; read more here. | Semantic Web Announces Gold Open Access As of 2020, Semantic Web journal (SJW) will switch to a fully open access journal model. Since its launch in 2009, the editors of SWJ have been firm supporters of so called Green Open Access. This decision allows for a transition to full or Gold Open Access. For more details, go here. | Introducing: HTI Open Access Collection Our book series Studies in Health Technology and Informatics (HTI) was started in 1990 to promote biomedical and health informatics research and now has 267 volumes, with many of the recent editions being published open access. We have now launched a new initiative that invites authors to submit individual papers for publication in this highly regarded, peer-reviewed series as part of the HTI Open Access Collection.
