Shortcuts
See Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Reviewers#Guidelines for granting for the granting guidelines. Guidelines include account age at least 90 days old, at least 500 edits to mainspace, demonstrated knowledge of page quality control (usually shown through participation in processes such as WP:AFD, WP:CSD, WP:AFC reviewing, etc.), no blocks or 3RR violations in the past 6 months, and no indications of undisclosed paid editing. Applicants should show some evidence that they generally meet the guidelines, have a demonstrated need for the right, and that they have read and fully understood the tutorial at Wikipedia:New pages patrol. Editors may want to consider WP:NPPSCHOOL before applying.

User:Broc

Adding new pages can bring large value to the encyclopedia, but it is critical that articles are checked shortly after they are created and not months later, so that there is a good chance the editor will still be around to improve the page. That's why I would like to help reducing the backlog.

I have been more active on Wikipedia since a couple months but I have been here since many years, I have created some articles myself of which 2 DYI, and have some experience with AfD.

I started NPPschool but the trainer has been unresponsive ever since I started; as the alternative is learn by doing, I am applying for a trial period as patroller. Broc (talk) 16:40, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oh dear, that's not true. I should have tested that first. I had misunderstood WP:MENTION's "when someone mentions you on a talk page" as being a requirement (on non-project pages, that is). SilverLocust 💬 06:10, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for pointing that out, but it was specifically requested by the trainer to use that page as communication channel. The message was indeed received as you can see by the entry in User:Cassiopeia/todo. I feel this is a bit off-topic, however. Broc (talk) 06:23, 6 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Broc Good day. As I mentioned, I was on 6 weeks holiday and just got back a few weeks ago and swam with many tasks and things to do. To review the assignment do take time and I need to log in a time to do that as it is not an edit I can just add a short sourced content. I apologies for the waiting.  Not done. I believe there may be a misunderstanding about what NPP entails because it isn't necessary or helpful for creating new pages. All of that tags that can be added with it can also be added with Twinkle. Additionally, there's no AfD participation, which we'd like to see before accepting an NPR perm request. I had the AFCH permission last to last month, in which I did a lot of article reviews. I am also an active participant in Afd, where I have decent record. I believe that with my own multiple article creations as well, i understand the relevant policies and am ready for handling the new page review requests.  Not done. @Mevoelo: Thank you for applying, but I'm not seeing enough experience with deletion processes (such as AfD and CSD tagging) to be able to evaluate your familiarity with Wikipedia's notability policies. I encourage you to spend some time at WP:AFD, explain the votes you're making (it's okay to have a vote that doesn't align with the policy result if it's explained well), and re-apply again in a few months. I received an invitation to join then NPP, and it is something I had been kind of meaning to request anyway. I've got extensive familiarity with CSD and dealing with new users civilly and constructively, as well as quite a bit with AfD and the notability guidelines. I already do a fair bit of recent changes patrol, and helping out with the new pages backlog would be a good way to expand my contribution to the project. I was originally going to wait a little longer before reapplying, since I had any AfD experience when I applied for AfC helper script, and I wanted a record in the high tens at least. But I got the mailer, and I've participated in some more AfD, and it really has helped me understand notability better. Apologies if it's still obviously premature for NPP or AfC.
