The 2023–24 CAF Confederation Cup knockout stage started on 31 March with the quarter-finals and will end on 19 May 2024 with the second leg of final to decide the champions of the 2023–24 CAF Confederation Cup. A total of eight teams are competing in the knockout stage.

Times are local.

Round and draw dates

The schedule is as follows.[1]

Round Draw date First leg Second leg
Quarter-finals 12 March 2024 31 March 2024 7 April 2024
Semi-finals 21 April 2024 28 April 2024
Final 12 May 2024 19 May 2024

Format

Each tie in the knockout phase is being played over two legs, with each team playing one leg at home. The team that scores more goals on aggregate over the two legs advances to the next round. If the aggregate score is level, the away goals rule is being applied, i.e. the team that scores more goals away from home over the two legs advances. If away goals are also equal, then extra time is not played and the winners are decided by a penalty shoot-out (Regulations III. 26 & 27).

The mechanism of the draws for each round was as follows:

  • In the draw for the quarter-finals, the four group winners were seeded, and the four group runners-up were unseeded. The seeded teams were drawn against the unseeded teams, with the seeded teams hosting the second leg. Teams from the same group could not be drawn against each other, while teams from the same association could be drawn against each other.
  • In the draws for semi-finals, there were no seedings, and teams from the same group or the same association could be drawn against each other. As the draws for the quarter-finals and semi-finals were be held together before the quarter-finals were played, the identity of the quarter-final winners was not known at the time of the semi-final draw.

The knockout stage involves the 8 teams which qualified as winners and runners-up of each of the eight groups in the group stage.

Notes

  1. ^ Upon arriving to Algeria, RS Berkane official kits were seized by Algerian authorities, who refused to allow them to wear it in the match against USM Alger, due to the shirts featuring a map of Morocco that includes Western Sahara, which is a disputed territory that Morocco claims to be part of their land, while Algeria recognize it as part of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic.[3] The match was cancelled as a result.[4] A decision will be made by CAF to decide the outcome of the match.
