Communities

I added the communities of Long Beach Township, since they tend to operate as individual entities; and are commonly referred to as such by the locals to Long Beach Island. --Thisisbossi 22:34, 1 May 2006 (UTC)

Fragmented

I added the part about fragmentation. I'm not sure how to cite source -- look at the map already on the page! It shows the four fragments. I used the National Geographic Road Atlas and Google Maps to verify which places within the Township are in which of the four fragments.

The article on South Hackensack cites that township's uniqueness in being fragmented in three parts, but doesn't cite Long Beach and its four. Isdnip (talk) 17:46, 21 November 2007 (UTC)User:isdnip

The {{fact}} tag isn't about this township in itself being fragmented: yes, geography is a good enough reference for that one. Rather, the {{fact}} tag is with regards to the statement that Long Beach Township is the only township in Jersey which is fragmented. And actually, now that you pointed out South Hackensack, you just demonstrated that the last statement is not entirely accurate. If you can find a source which states that, at four sections, it is the most fragmented township -- I suppose that could be added back in. • The reason I added the "fact" tag is not that I think its false (I'm well familiar with the case of South Hackensack), but that the definitive and superlative nature of the statement required sources. It might well be true, but I'm not sure how other municipalities, especially where islands are included, may be considered in this regard, so I thought the tag should be applied. I'd have no objection to its inclusion with a fact tag, but we should be able to find a source. Alansohn (talk) 19:15, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

List of Guarded Beaches

Per a consensus on the LBTBP Deletion Discussion page, the List of Guarded Beaches in Long Beach Township, as well as other pertinent information regarding the LBTBP, was merged here. The list was later deleted roughly on the basis that it was excessive. I would like to see if the list should be added back. I invite anyone who is interested to take a look and give their opinion on the matter. It would be greatly appreciated if we could reach a consensus by November 21, 2023. • Include the List. Based on comments citing the list’s notability from Deletion Discussion for the LBTBP and the potential usefulness of this information, I believe that it should be included under the Recreation section with the rest of the information regarding the beach patrol. • Exclude the List This list of more than 50 guarded beach locations copied and pasted from this source has no encyclopedic value of any kind and is the cardinal example of Wikipedia is not a directory. • Include the List The list is rather encyclopedic in this context, and consequently does not resemble a directory per Wikipedia’s guidelines. It also adds value to the section about the patrol. • Include the List. As others have said, the information seemingly was to be merged from the deletion discussion. The list provides value to that section of the article, is encyclopedic per Wikipedia’s guidelines, and is accurately cited and transferred to this page.
