The Suss-Ex Club

The Suss-Ex Club is an association for former staff of the University of Sussex. The Club organises a range of activities, depending on what members would like and volunteer to run, as well as looking out for the concerns of retired people around the university. Many activities have taken place, and others are planned - further suggestions welcome. Details are circulated in the members' newsletter - see below.

[New!] BUILDING A STRATEGY FOR SUSSEX BY 2035 [New!]

Members of Suss-Ex are invited to a conversation with the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sasha Roseneil, on Friday 26th April 2024, 6pm for 6.30pm, in the Terrace Room, Bramber House.

Drinks and canapés will be served after the Vice-Chancellor's presentation and the ensuing discussion. A small charge of £7 is payable, and pre-booking is essential, using the booking form.

Professor Roseneil will talk about her impressions and experience of Sussex since she became Vice-Chancellor in 2022 and will also describe her strategy for the long-term success and sustainability of the University by 2035, when the University will turn 75.

The Vice-Chancellor also hopes to get feedback from members of Suss-Ex concerning your own ideas, hopes, and aspirations for the University by that date. What should it stand for and what changes does the University need to make to get there by 2035?

Please come to what should prove to be an interesting and stimulating evening with the Vice-Chancellor.

The Club is open to all former staff, whatever their jobs were, including both those who left for other employment and those who retired. The "part-retired" are welcome to join. Members' partners are very welcome. There is no subscription.

Many colleagues who might like to join the Club have unfortunately not yet been contacted, owing to the inadequacies of the available lists. If you are Sussex ex-staff but have not been contacted, please give us your contact details, using the form below if convenient.

The Club has a very informal structure: it is organised by a self-perpetuating Steering Group. The Club is grateful for organisational assistance provided by the University's Development and Alumni Relations Office, in whose database Suss-Ex Club membership data is stored.
