Piano Lessons

Learn what you love and love what you learn

A little bit about me, Erin

My name is Erin and I love music, I love to teach and I love to play.

How did I build such an admiration for piano? Picture this... for every weekend trip to Costco, amidst the sea of swarming shoppers, you'd find a little seven year old girl in the middle aisle where you'd typically find the books, outdoor equipment and electronics, and that little seven year old was me.

Without fail, you'd find me standing on the two-to-three inch wooden platform that staged an electronic keyboard. This wasn't just a plain ol' keyboard, no, it was lit! Alright, maybe the term 'lit' wasn't coined back then, but let me explain. For every key that was pressed, a red backlight would shine, and for all the preset accompanying songs, keys would light up to guide a recognizable melody. Hearing a tune I knew and associating it with the keys I hit sparked my passion.

Call me 'lucky' as I was young when my parents enrolled me in my first piano lesson, after consistently finding me by said, lit keyboard. Progressing quickly with lessons, practice and determination, I became Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) and Conservatory Canada (CC) qualified to teach piano and music theory to others. For more than fifteen years now, I've been teaching to students of all ages, starting as young as three, and can adjust my teaching methods to fit many different learning needs.

With formal education in psychology and adult education, coupled with extensive professional experience working with young children, we can work together to establish learning goals and build an admiration for the piano, too.

COVID safety precautions

In light of everything that is going on in our community...

I strive to keep some kind of routine going, including practice. I have opened up virtual lessons to help my current students maintain their progress and encourage interested minds to find a new hobby during lockdown.

Virtual lessons have given parents a peek into what classes look like and even enabled them to be a part of the learning.

I ask all students to wear a mask with me throughout the lesson. For me, in addition to the mask, I wear gloves and carry around a "mist-able" sanitizer that will not damage your piano keys.

It's important we work together to keep our community safe, so if anyone in the household is experiencing any symptoms of any illness, I ask that you please let me know and we can reschedule our lesson to a later date.
