Cornell University welcomes applications for the position of Head Coach of Sprint Football. The Sprint Football program is a self-funded, varsity athletic team within the Department of Athletics and Physical Education.  Successful candidates must show the commitment to embracing the priorities of the sprint football philosophy, embodying the unique culture, meeting the expectations of the sprint football program, and participating as a full member of the Athletics and Physical Education community.  Valuing the student-athlete experience, engaging in alumni relations, and effectively managing a part-time staff are essential.  As Head Coach, primary responsibilities include preparing team for practice and competitions in accordance with Ivy League, CSFL, NCAA, and University policies, working in cooperation with the trainers and other Athletics staff assigned to work with the team, and preparing the student athletes for their competitive schedule. The Head Coach works to prepare, administer and monitor team budget, and is responsible for communicating with alumni and friends of the program. 


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ivy League and CSFL coaching experience
  • Commitment to the Student-Athlete experience.
  • Knowledge of NCAA recruiting and compliance rules and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills, strong organizational and leadership skills, and an ability to identify, yield and develop quality student-athletes
  • Proficiency with computers and office software; familiarity with ARMS software, video editing software, and other athletic-specific technology skills preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated success in cultivating relationships with alumni and other program supporters is required
  • This position will require driving; therefore, a clean and valid driver’s license must be held at time of employment and maintained thereafter

Working Environment

  • Typically lifts 30 to 50 lbs
  • Close concentration
  • Working conditions, include no or limited exposure to hazardous conditions/materials/equipment, but do include outdoor activities in variable and/or inclement weather conditions, as well as typical travel conditions.

Starting Pay Range is $70,000 - $72,000 for this full-time position. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.​
