What we’re about

Dancing with a partner is back in fashion, with plenty of opportunities to dance socially during the daytime, evenings, and on holidays. Dancing is a skill, and like any other skill you’ll need to learn it in order to be able to do it. If you think you have two left feet it just means that you haven’t started learning yet. As Woody Allen said: "80% of success is turning up", so walk in – dance out! At group sessions and lessons with Go Ballroom you’ll learn from teachers who are qualified not only steps but also posture, balance, coordination, and timing. Learning to dance is not as repetitive as other forms of exercise and it’s a workout for the mind as well as the body. Group sessions are sociable too, so while you’re acquiring your right foot, you’ll make new friends (romance is not unknown) as well as becoming fitter, more relaxed, and more confident. Teachers at Go Ballroom follow the principles (supported by research) that we learn best when relaxed and unafraid of making "mistakes".  Nevertheless, instruction is given with technique in mind.  This means that you may not be able to do it the first time you try but you'll understand exactly what it is that you're trying to do. Go Ballroom runs group sessions which are suitable for absolute beginners, those wishing to return to dancing, and those who know some basics but want to improve their repertoire and technique. You can bring a partner or come on your own - you'll have the opportunity to dance with everybody. You can dress up or down but we don't wear lycra, rhinestones, or tailcoats! Wear shoes that are comfortable, attached to your foot at the heel, and are non-stick (trainers are not suitable, therefore).  The only other requirements are basic levels of fitness and mobility, being friendly and happy (or a willingness to become so), and the understanding that, to paraphrase Franklin D Roosevelt: "the only thing [you] have to fear is fear itself".  So, start dancing and start living!

Private lessons are available for individuals, couples, and small groups for social, medal, commercial, professional, and wedding purposes.  For more information write to info@goballroom.co.uk  www.goballroom.co.uk
