Campaign Story
We are Azman Mohamed and Ahmad Zainuddin. We are being sued by a group who has been exposed by the Straits Times as a deviant religious sect, when they ran both video and print stories about them recently.
The deviant sect has alleged that we defamed them, and demanded that we make a public statement to withdraw all our allegations. The sect has also demanded a combined financial compensation of $360,000 for what they claim as damages to their character.
Read the report from Straits Times:
Self Styled Prophet Being Investigated
On 9 Nov 2020, the Straits Times published an exposé of the sect’s involvement in the teaching and practice of a deviant brand of Islam. Female members of the sect ended up as multiple “wives” of the sect leader, leaving a trail of divorces and break-up of their families.
The Straits Times’ exposé created a huge uproar within the community, sending alarms on how the sect was able to grow in Singapore undetected for such a long time.
The sect is not new. It has been active since 2004.
Read the report from Straits Times II:
I'm not a religious sect leader says businessman described as a deviant religious teacher.
MUIS, as the highest Islamic religious authority in Singapore, knew about the existence of this group, and issued a warning to them in 2018. After the exposé by the Straits Times, MUIS announced on 27 Nov 2020 that it would investigate the group again. Investigations are still on-going at the time this crowdfunding appeal is written.
We are appealing to the public to help us raise funds for our legal fight against the defamation suit. This has now become our only means to clear both our own and family names after exhausting all available channels, including with MUIS, since 2015.

We wish to assure donors that every single cent raised through this crowdfunding will be used to pay for the legal fee. We will be transparent and accountable to the public.
We anticipate the legal fee to run up to as high as $200,000, depending on the duration of the court hearing.
We pray for your support by donating to this cause, or you can help spread a word for this crowdfunding effort. Whatever amount you give will be of much help to us to establish the truth.
Finally, this situation sadly now confronts us. All the evidences we presented before to the authorities in private may now see the light of day in public, as we lay our case before our country’s robust justice system.
May you be blessed for your generosity, kindness and support through your donation and prayers.
Yours Sincerely,
Azman Mohamed & Ahmad Zainuddin
