We are a 24/7 Cornish healthcare charity that provides end of life support for people with terminal illnesses. Our staff and volunteers care for patients and their families, carers and friends at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell, St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle, through our Community Services and where appropriate, in people’s own homes and in local care homes. We have 30 retail outlets across the whole of Cornwall and all members of our team play an important role in supporting our services. What you’ll do:

We are seeking an enthusiastic self-starter to join our Income Generation team as a Trust and Grants Manager. This is an exciting new role for us and you will be responsible for securing valuable funding from trusts, foundations and grant making bodies to enable us to keep providing our high quality and vital care.

We are looking for someone who is outgoing and enthusiastic to join our Supporter Care team, who will carry out essential supporter engagement and administrative activities associated with marketing campaigns, donations, fundraising events and requests for materials. With previous experience of providing excellent customer service, you will have the ability and confidence to communicate with a variety of people, engaging with supporters by phone, email and in writing about a wide range of enquiries. 

The Supporter Care team at Alzheimer’s Research UK is often the first point of contact in the charity for supporters, potential donors and members of the public. The Supporter Care Administrator works alongside five other team Administrators handling supporter enquiries, processing donations, and thanking supporters to ensure an excellent standard of customer care and to generate the maximum amount of income for dementia research. This role reports to the Senior Supporter Care Officer (SSCO) and ensures that the team successfully deliver an efficient and a first-class supporter experience for the charity.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract, or on return of the substantive post holder, due to a secondment. This role will you to be in the office 2-3 days per week depending on business needs.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Supporter engagement

· Answering inbound telephone calls; responding to a wide range of enquiries including marketing campaigns, donations, fundraising events and requests for materials.

· Managing email enquiries, either by responding or forwarding as necessary.

· Responding to written enquiries received in the post.

· Making outbound telephone calls in order to increase the value of, or to retain supporters; including thanking, obtaining Gift Aid declarations and reactivating lapsed donors.

· Recording feedback received by the charity and assisting in the resolution of complaints.

· Champion high quality supporter care, ensuring that all supporters and members of the public have an excellent experience when contacting the charity.

 Donation processing, database and general administration

· Processing donations from telephone calls and mailings, acknowledging supporters appropriately.

· In Memoriam giving; sending out materials, processing donations and sending appropriate acknowledgements to donors, Funeral Directors, and the Next of Kin.

· Regular giving; processing new Direct Debit instructions and Standing Order payments, amending and cancelling gifts as necessary.

· Processing and thanking donations relating to regional fundraising and sporting events.

· Ensuring the integrity of the database (currently Salesforce), by amending supporter details as necessary.

· Opening and batching incoming post.

· Updating team procedures as required.

· Archiving, scanning and filing documents.

Additional Information:

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

As an Employment Coach with our Employcare Project you will be supporting unpaid carers living in Manchester; providing support and coaching in order for them to re-enter paid employment or voluntary roles.  The successful candidates will manage a small caseload of carers and provide them with 1:1 support, helping them overcome barriers to employment and training.  You will be responsible for supporting them through every stage of their journey, enabling participants to address their barriers and realise their aspirations.

As Major Donor, Legacy, and Membership Manager you will:

• Develop and execute a robust major donor fundraising strategy.

• Create a pipeline of strategic gift solicitation stages to maximise donor potential.
• Increase awareness of legacy opportunities.
• Develop and execute a plan to significantly increase and enhance Tinnitus UK's individual membership.

About you:

You will demonstrate exceptional relationship and communication skills, including:

• A track record in securing income from major donors and philanthropists including knowledge of membership / legacy fundraising.
• Familiarity with major donor engagement and reporting standards for significant donations.
• Strong understanding of fundraising best practices.
• The ability to work with a board of trustees to develop a portfolio.
• Emotional intelligence and outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Highly organised, able to work with a diverse pipeline of both warm and cold prospects.

The Lead Instructor Role:

We’re looking for someone to join our team who is just as passionate as we are about getting young people outdoors to have an adventure as we are. You will have great leadership potential, be organised and able to organise others, and have plenty of instructing experience with a range of groups and activities. You’ll want to learn and be prepared to put in the work to and effort needed to develop as a practitioner and a manager.

Key responsibilities as our Lead Instructor:

• Coaching, mentoring and pastoral supervision of the instructing team
• Maintaining accurate records of staff training, assessment and competency, equipment and activity facilities, operating procedures and risk assessments
• Assisting with the creation of group programmes and staff timetables
• Ensuring relevant checks, processes and paperwork are maintained to meet external and internal accreditation standards - including management of equipment and PPE
• Delivering adventurous activity, and training to internal and external clients
• Monitoring the safety and quality of activity sessions
• Working as a Duty Manager being the first point of contact for the daily operation of the centre on a rota basis; including managing the site team and any service crews, providing an ‘on call’ service during out of hours times for guests on centre, and support with first aid and safeguarding
• Assisting other staff, including taking bookings, checking in/out groups and liaising with guests
• As a youth focused organisation, applicants agree to comply at all times with the safeguarding rules including vetting and Basic/Enhanced DBS checks

What we are looking for in our Lead Instructor:

• Competent IT skills especially in office applications
• The ability to supervise staff including appropriate delegation, encouraging personal development and managing performance
• Experience working with High Ropes and Target Sports sessions and equipment
• Experience working in an outdoor education or activity centre – working with a wide range of groups and activities
• Experience in leading, mentoring and supporting others
• Understanding of The Scout and how we work
