Personally, my retention is multiplied exponentially via taking notes by hand vs electronically. How about you? [the] extra processing of the material that they were doing benefited them." #lifelonglearner #positivepsychology #professionaldevelopment https://lnkd.in/e8M_Z-v

Yes, this has been proven by many studies over the years. The art of writing has passed many by unfortinately. When you write the words are scribed into your memory and there is an ownership of the thought or information. This is why I insist people write their goals, business plans, activity plans etc. Also when you write a thought and activity down on paper and it is completed or accomplished being to actually check it off as completed, cannot be compared to using your cell phone or laptop. People have horrible handwriting and cannot spell because they do not write. It is sad that this art, skill has been passed up by many. Who uses a fountain pen and paper today??? Not many....

I find writing down my ideas and frameworks for a plan works better for me. It helps me focus and I find it easier to go back through my notebook than through emails!

My retention is always better with hand written notes.

I think the point of the article is by now completely obscured. The point is this: the best tool is still, hands down, bar-none, your human brain. Its complexity is still staggering and no amount of Google development can compete with it. At least, not yet.  Treat the mind as a priority, pander to its strengths, elevate its weaknesses, and it will serve you better than any laptop, productivity app, or (noise-making, ADD-causing, drool-inducing, panic-causing... **** where is it!  ****!) phone or tablet. Not to be a Luddite, because tools have their place but meeting someone focused, calm, and fully engaged is a lot better than spending the same time finding some hack to manage an avoidance trigger of engaging your own memory.  LOL
