CMD Workshop - Accompanying Youth
Description
The document for the upcoming Synod on Young People, the Faith, and Vocational Discernment describes accompaniment as our model for ministry with youth and their families. God began the conversation with young people; our job is to pay attention to what God is doing in the lives of young people, walk with youth as they grow in discipleship, and help them discern their response to God’s plan for their life. This workshop will explore ways to help youth pray and discern their vocation. Topics include:
- Accompanying Young People Today
- Becoming a Faith Companion
- Helping Youth Pray, Discern and Explore their Vocation
- The workshop is designed for all parish leaders whose ministries touch the lives of adolescents and their families—including pastors, deacons, pastoral associates, coordinators of youth ministry, leaders in faith formation and catechists, Confirmation preparation leaders, and service/social concerns leaders.
Presented by Tom East. Tom is the Director of the Center for Ministry Development, Project Coordinator for Youth Ministry Services, and Coordinator of the Certificate Program in Youth Ministry Studies. Tom holds a Master of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Mount St. Mary's College in
