How do I get my base to work if I am running a 64-bit system

Our software is setup to default for drivers using 32-bit systems, and therefore, will not work out of the box with 64-bit running systems.

To get the base to work with 64-bit systems we need to update the driver for the base to get it to work.

To do this:

1. - Download the driver from our website - click link to go right to the correct page
http://www.meridiaars.com/audience-response and scroll to the bottom of the page (lower right).  Locate the link for 64-bit Drivers for Meridia Receiver (zip)

2. - Ok, first you want to create a new folder on your desktop (right click on desktop, locate New in the drop-down menu, highlight/hover over New and select Folderfrom that list.  (You can choose to call the folder anything you want but in this example it is just called New Folder.)

3. - Next, click on the link and hit open when prompted, highlight all the files within that folder and copy and paste those files into that newly created folder on your desktop.

4. - Once that is completed, locate your My Computer icon, either on your desktop or within the Start menu, and right-click on the icon and select Manage from the  window that appears.   Once the Computer Management window opens, highlightDevice Manager.  In the window to the right you will see a list of items that are attached to your computer.   Locate Ports (COM & LPT) and select the + sign next to it…it is here that your computer lists your Meridia ARS base.  If you plug in your base at this point, or unplug and plug in, you will see a device labeled USB Serial Port appear under the Ports.  This is your base.

5. - We are now going to update the driver for this base.  Right-click on the USB Serial Port and select Update Driver from the menu.  A Hardware Update Wizard window will appear.  Select Yes, this time only and hit Next. In the next window select, Install from a specific list or specific location and hit Next

6. - In the next window, the Search for the best driver…is selected and there are two check boxes listed underneath, the first one (Search removable media) is currently selected.  Uncheck that box and instead, check the box below titled Include this location in the search:.  At this point you are going to  press the Browse button next to this check-box option and locate the New Folder on your desktop within that list and hit OK.  Back to the Hardware Wizard and select Next.  Finish the Hardware Wizard process buy hitting Next a few times.

7. - You should now be able to see the base within the ARS software when you go to Tools and select Base Settings.
