The School’s People and Culture Committee facilitates the overview and integration of policy and procedures related to people and culture including equality, diversity, and inclusivity and wellbeing.

The Committee communicates aspirational targets, disseminates best practice, and works towards a culture that is inclusive and promotes equality for all. It considers data and trends allowing School of Pharmacy to respond in a timely manner to any issues that affect staff resource, development, and the health and well-being of staff and students. It has representation from academic, technical, research and administrative staff.

Recent Activities

Crowns

Our crown, whether adorned with hair, head covering, or neither, is an integral and obviously visual part of our identity.

Inspired by the Halo Code, the School of Pharmacy and Faculty of Engineering have commissioned two student photographers, Bersun Kilinc and Saifullah Muhammad, to develop a public exhibition at Pavilion Cafe, Lakeside Arts, as part of the Diversity Festival in June 2022. The exhibition will champion the rights of staff and students to wear their natural hairstyles and head coverings. It seeks to raise awareness of racial and religious discrimination, whilst celebrating the hair and head coverings of our Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority and diverse religious communities.

Halo Code

The School of Pharmacy has adopted the Halo Code We champion the right of staff and students to embrace all Afro-hairstyles. We recognise and celebrate our colleagues' identities. We are a community built on an ethos of equality and respect where hair texture and style have no bearing on an employees ability to succeed.
