About this item
- Everyone’s Favorite Yellow Pad! – You know it by the cover: popular in art schools, art classes, and art studios, the Strathmore 300 Series is a staple in the art community
- Why is it called Bristol? – The term refers to the early days of European papermaking when mills would send their finest papers to Bristol, England, to be glued together under pressure to form multi-ply sheets
- Use Bristol to Showcase Your Drawings – A heavyweight, 2 ply drawing sheet helps your artwork look crisp, bright and ready to share without the need for mounting thanks to the stiff, strong surface
- Two Types of Bristol – Smooth Bristol is preferred for mechanical drawing, marker, and airbrush along with pen & ink; Vellum Bristol is preferred for mediums that require a textured surface to grab pigment, like graphite pencil, colored pencil, charcoal, oil pastel
- Strathmore: The Artist’s Choice – Deciding the art surface is one of the most important decisions an artist makes in determining the outcome of their work, and Strathmore has earned the trust of the art community for its quality materials

Product Description
Strathmore Paper Company began St. Patrick’s Day in 1892, when Horace Moses opened the Mittineague paper mill in West Springfield, MA. Ever since then, Strathmore has been a leading supplier of fine art papers under the belief that better paper makes better art. Strathmore provides artists of all levels with one of the widest ranges of quality surfaces for producing beautiful works of art, no matter the choice of medium. Listening to the needs of artists and providing inspiration, education, and innovating new products is at the core of what matters to Strathmore. The 300 Series was developed for quick studies and for the practice of techniques with any media, as well as final artwork by beginning or student artists. The 300 Series Bristol paper pad contains 20 sheets of high-quality Bristol weight board at 270gsm per page. Bristol pads come in two different finishes: a smooth finish ideal for mechanical drawings, air brush, solvent-based marker, or detailed pen and ink illustrations; a vellum finish ideal for mediums that need a bumpier surface, like graphite pencils, charcoal, oil pastels or sketching sticks. These Bristol pads are available in four sizes: 9x12 inches, 11x14 inches, 14x17 inches and 19x24 inches.

I think this paper is great for both beginners and professionals, as it is quite affordable, but is still a quality paper!
I've purchased this paper several times over the years along with some other brands, but this is still my go-to for anything graphite-related!
Based on price: 4/5
Time with Product: 5 years (purchased in 2016)
Review:
Where do I begin. WOW. The quality of the paper is unbeatable! It is extremely smooth and durable. It is not easy to rip this paper. It has thickness to it too. I had to outline a few of my abstract art with a fine-tip marker and there was no bleeding on the back of the page.
This booklet is absolutely amazing, it is great for sketching and it can withstand a lot of ink and a lot of graphite. The main reason why I decided to purchase this product was because I was using normal printer paper to sketch and shade in my art and the paper would appear like it was going to fall apart because there was so much graphite on the paper that it felt like the paper was soaked with water. It had that same feeling. Not to mention, all the graphite bled through the paper. For example, if I was working on a white wooden table and I was shading, There would be graphite marks and shades that had went through the paper. This product eliminated that! There was no more bleeding thanks to its great thickness, and there was no longer a weird texture while shading in that a normal printer paper would normally have.
This is a high quality paper and I would recommend it to all artists who are serious about their work and their art. I would not necessarily recommend this for beginners because the paper is expensive and if you are at least not an amateur, it is simply unnecessary. You can get other great quality sketch books to practice on for much cheaper and you would not notice much of a difference in quality. I do notice the difference but that is because I have reached a point in my career where those small details matter and those small imperfections are important to me.
WHAT I WOULD SUGGEST | EVEN FOR PROFESSIONALS:
I would suggest you purchase two sketchbooks. One for practicing and daily sketching. Projects with an estimate time of under 10 hours. Then, I would purchase this high quality paper, and I would use it only for my serious pieces of work. Anything with an expected 10+ hours of sketching and work.
I hope my review makes sense and helps you decide whether or not you would like to purchase this sketchbook.
Have fun shopping! :)
