StemJournal | COVID-19 Statement

Dear Colleague,

The current COVID-19 crisis is affecting many lives, and also research initiatives. At the StemJournal, we are continuing our efforts, working from home where possible, to continue assessing papers for publication to progress advances in stem cell research. We appreciate the time and efforts of our editors, authors, and reviewers to make this possible. It is understandable that extensions or reassignments may be needed, in which case we ask you to talk to our editorial staff. If you are self-isolating or staying at home following recommended guidelines and you are considering writing a review article within the stem cell specialty, then we invite you to contact the editorial team by email (stemjournal@iospress.com) to explore publication. We wish you all strength in these trying times and hope to see you all remain healthy as we move through this.

Kind regards,

Editors-in-Chief

For all our colleagues, the current situation means many labs are closed and/or have been turned into testing facilities – as in the case of our Associate Editor George Murphy's lab, which was transformed in a matter of days last month (read more about that in Boston University's report here).

In this newsetter, we regularly introduce different members of the team for you to hear from esteemed colleagues about how they felt on joining the Editorial Board of StemJournal. Our website features these profiles (gathered pre-lockdown) and they can be accessed via the Editorial Board page. In this mailing, we are pleased to introduce Agnete Kirkeby and Jonathan Hoggatt.

Official Launch of StemRxiv

StemRxiv (pronounced "stem archive"). This is a preprint portal that allows researchers to submit, publish, and access stem cell preprints. Specifically, you can visit the portal to:

Search Preprints: You can "search" StemRxiv to discover the latest research findings before they are published in peer-reviewed journals. It is the one place to visit to uncover the latest updates from the area of stem cell research that is of interest to you.

Submit Preprints: To find out how to "submit" your preprint, jump over to this page. If you already have a stem cell preprint in BioRxiv or MedRxiv, you can arrange a "direct tranfser" to StemJournal as discussed in this blog post.

By offering this preprint service to our audience of stem cell researchers, we are hopeful to spread the word of StemJournal and receive more submissions (the early years for new journals are particularly difficult after all). We invite you to share news of StemRxiv and the journal by sharing this newsletter to any interested parties. We also appreciate your feedback about the new preprint portal; please contact us by email.

StemRxiv is associated with StemJournal and both are components parts of StemHub
