Recent RNN Study In the News

RNN's most read article this month relates to a study that appeared in RNN Vol.37, Iss.2, 2019. To discover more about this research, read the recent press release.

Article: Immediate improvement of speech-in-noise perception through multisensory stimulation via an auditory to tactile sensory substitution

The open access study by Cieśla, et al. provides the first evidence that a simple and inexpensive non-invasive speech-to-touch sensory substitution device has the potential to improve hearing in hearing-impaired cochlear implant patient.

“This study is a major step forward to introduce multisensory plasticity of the brain as an innovative paradigm to maximize the potential of patients to compensate for their sensory loss,” commented Bernhard Sabel, PhD, Editor-in-Chief of Restorative Neurology and Neuroscience. Upcoming Meeting

ECNR 2019

Oct 9–12, 2019 | Budapest, Hungary

The European Congress of NeuroRehabilitation 2019 will take place in Budapest, Hungary in October. It is an opportunity for important dialogue between colleagues from all over the world and an opportunity to discuss research as well as collaborative projects in order to avoid permanent damage and disabilities as consequences of cerebral and cardiovascular diseases, accidents and injuries, or functional disorders. This congress of experts will provide transnational and interdisciplinary opportunities to learn from one another and incorporate those findings into daily work practices. New for this event is a special session for young investigators. The early bird registration deadline is July 14, 2019. Find out more at the congress website here.

RNN information will be available to attendees at this meeting: we encourage delegates to consider submitting research to the journal.
