Public Service Announcements - Be Advised:
18
3/11/2016Did you know RBHP is now on GitHub? I have no idea what I'm doing, but it seems to work! URL is above, under "Repository". I will still do 'official' releases, periodically, but you can now use this to submit changes/corrections, submit new content (e.g. pro stuff or keys stuff), or submit bug reports! This will also make it easier for me in the future should I ever step away - I can hand that off easily enough!

About the Project
35
What is this?
36
The Rock Band: Harmonies Project is a fan project that aims to upgrade all pre-RB3 era disc and DLC tracks with harmonies. In addition to this, the Rock Band: Harmonies Project occasionally makes improvements to tracks in other areas, such as adding pro drum charts to early Rock Band Network songs, adding pro keys/keys upgrades, adding custom pro guitar/bass upgrades, and deploying fixes to broken/erroneous charts.
37
38
How does it work?
39
The presence of harmonies is introduced into the game through the use of custom songs.dta files, which are used to "trick" Rock Band 3's song cache. Harmony charts, as well as the other upgrades and fixes employed here, are introduced through the use of the upgrade schema Harmonix introduced for pro guitar upgrades; by using the same sort of deployment structure, we are able to upgrade other elements of a song.
40
41
Don't we need to download the full song? Isn't this piracy?
42
Interestingly, no! The method used by this project does not require the modification of any existing DLC files, nor does it require that we distribute entire songs in full CON or LIVE format packages. We provide you with CON files containing the necessary data to trick the song cache as well as the necessary upgrade data, which will run alongside any of your existing, official DLC content. You will be required to own the original content. This is not the "Pirate Harmonix DLC Project".
43
44
What songs/titles are you looking to upgrade?
45
The core focus of the project is adding harmony upgrades to all pre-RB3 disc-based and downloadable content releases that have harmony vocal parts, and I intend to see this project through to that goal at the very least. Beyond this scope, we will likely look to add pro drums and/or harmony support to Rock Band Network songs, as well as issue pro guitar/bass upgrades and chart corrections for other content. There are no guarantees that this content will be put in play for everything, namely as a) I do not own all Rock Band Network songs and b) I do not chart pro guitar/bass and cannot test pro guitar/bass submissions.
46
47
What's been released so far? What can we expect to see next?
48
The "By The Numbers" section above touches on specifics, but we have successfully completed ALL legacy (pre-RB3) disc and DLC content. Going forward, the project is more or less in 'maintenance mode', where we will continue to tweak existing charts as needed, but we are still looking to release the odd RBN, pro guitar/bass, or keys upgrades.

50
How can I reach you? I have questions/want to contribute!
51
You can find links to all potential outlets earlier up in this post. If your question is not answered here or in the FAQ that follows, you can always ask a question/leave a comment on the questions/comment tab or drop me a PM/e-mail. I check the e-mail in the morning and even and usually hit ScoreHero/Facebook up a few times a day. Twitter is more or less a news feed, so I'd discourage its use as a contact mechanism. I am always willing to help troubleshoot as best I can. If you are looking to contribute, the Downloads section has a link to the resources you would need to do so, but please let me know what you want to chart before you chart it!

Frequently Asked Questions
54
Which consoles is this project available for?
55
At this point in time, the Rock Band: Harmonies Project is available for the Xbox 360 and, through the contributions of a member of the community, the Wii. PS3 support was forthcoming, but the person working on it had some console problems and we were prioritizing customs on PS3 first w/ C3, so I'm not sure if/when we'll get there for RBHP.
56
57
What is the password to the downloads?
58
We are no longer using passwords for our downloads, but in the event I screwed up, it's probably RBHP.
59
60
Will this project work under Title Update 5?
61
Yes! I am pleased to announced this will work under Title Update 5, as the loophole that prevented the use of custom songs has not impacted the methodology used by this project. Presumably we will not see another Title Update from Harmonix, given that they have discontinued active development on Rock Band content, but were we ever to get a Title Update 6, I'd expect it would cease to function.
62
63
Can you upgrade songs to add keyboard charts?
64
With some caveats, we can add keys charts to songs via the upgrade process. There are no animations, and we have to commandeer existing audio tracks (usually the backing audio tracks), which means things like backing vocals/rhythm guitar/anything else in that track may cut out, but it is an option. Given the impact it has on the "experience", keys upgrades are considered part of the suite of optional upgrades, and will be available in those archives.
65
66
What about trill lanes and solo markers? Can you add those?
67
Aside from the odd correction due to omission or erroneous charting, I do not intend to make any changes that can have a tangible impact on scoring or how a chart plays. This includes adding bass/drum solos to old content or adding strum lanes/trill markers to things like Green Grass & High Tides. Sorry to disappoint -- maybe we can revisit these as optional upgrades when the leaderboards vanish. ;)
68
69
I see mention of "optional upgrades". Can you elaborate on this?
70
Optional upgrades are any upgrades that fall outside of the following parameters: pre-RB3 Disc/DLC Harmony Upgrades, RBN1 Harmony Upgrades, RBN1 Pro Drum Upgrades. The core of the project is and always will be the pre-RB3 Disc/DLC Harmony Upgrades, but early on in its life RBN1 updates became an integral part of the process, and as such are considered "core" (even if we may never get them all finished). The "optional" upgrades are thus pro guitar/bass updates, keys upgrades, chart corrections, and perhaps interesting things like variant charts (songs with rhythm charted to bass [though still with bass audio], misheard lyrics, adding the spoken word chorus in Down With the Sickness, and so forth).
71
72
Do you accept donations?
73
No. I have received a surprising number of donation offers, but I regretfully must decline them on ethical grounds, as this project is not exactly done with the consent of Harmonix or any other involved parties. Furthermore, I am no longer the lone charter for this project, and I do not like the thought of profiting from the charity of others. Before I get asked, I am also not available to commission for vocals charting.
74
75
I can't get it to work! Help!
76
If you haven't already, be sure to look through the installation guide found on the Downloads page. If you're still having problems or stuck, please contact me for private message or e-mail, or by posting in the ScoreHero thread.
77
78
Why are some rows on the spreadsheets missing information?
79
It just means I haven't gotten around to giving the song a listen and penciling this information in. It should mostly be there at this point, but, hey.
