Overview   of Rowley - Notice of a public informational website

An Informational Website to present design alternatives for the proposed Safety Improvements at Route 1, Central and Glen Streets project in Rowley, MA.

Purpose:

The purpose of this informational website is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Safety Improvements at Route 1, Central and Glen Streets project. All views and comments submitted in response to the informational website will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

Proposal:

The proposed project will provide additional traffic control to the existing two-way stop intersection in Rowley, MA. The Project Area includes the intersection of Route 1 (Newburyport Turnpike) at Central and Glen Street in the Town of Rowley, and the approaches to the intersection. The proposed improvements include the installation of a traffic signal and lengthened left-turn lanes with a protected left-turn movement. This will increase safety for turning and through vehicle movements by improving sight distance, creating gaps in traffic and reducing potential for crashes. Crosswalks, wheelchair ramps, and pedestrian signals will be constructed for safe pedestrian crossings.

All written statements and other exhibits regarding the proposed undertaking should be submitted through the comment form on the Informational website (linked above). Mailed statements should be sent to Patricia A. Leavenworth, P.E., Chief Engineer, MassDOT, 10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 02116, Attention: Project Management, Project File No. 609392. Mailed statements and exhibits intended for inclusion in the transcript must be dated between October 15, 2020 and November 15, 2020. Project inquiries may be emailed to dot.feedback.highway@state.ma.us.
