Dear Colleague,

We are pleased to announce that the latest issue of the Journal of Vestibular Research (JVR) is available online (Vol.27, Iss.5-6). The official journal of the Bárány Society, the journal is a forum for the vestibular research community.

JVR is proud to publish the Bárány Society's International Classification of Vestibular Disorders (ICVD) consensus documents, which are published open access. The contributions to this important series formally define key vestibular disorders and represent consensus around these formalized definitions. Both of the consensus documents that were published in Vol.27, Iss.4 have been highly viewed recently, as have a number of diagnostic criteria articles (see below).

Please feel free to share this newsletter with your colleagues and encourage them to sign up for the newsletter here.

Call for Papers

The journal publishes experimental and observational studies and theoretical papers based on current knowledge of the vestibular system. It has a rich tradition of providing an active communication channel that spans the basic and applied areas of vestibular science.

As a member of our research community, we would like to invite you to contribute your own articles to the journal. There are many benefits for contributing authors, including rigorous peer review and rapid processing and online publication (pre-print), and an affordable open access option (US$1250 / €900).

Along with the Bárány Society's concensus documents, JVR's YouTube channel has been getting a lot of mentions on Twitter in the last couple of months. The journal's video platform was created for the benefit of the vestibular research community and there are currently six teaching course lectures available, recorded at the 29th Bárány Society Meeting in Seoul, Korea.

The top 3 most viewed videos are by:

▪ Prof. Kingma (Maastricht University Medical Centre), presenting clinically relevant information related to the function of the vestibular system | View video
▪ Dr Halmágyi (Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney), providing practical insights into the clinical examination of patients presenting with possible disorders of the vestibular system | View video
▪ Dr Strupp (University Hospital Munich), discussing the importance of examining eye movements in patients with vertigo and dizziness | View video
