30th Bárány Society Meeting Report

June 10–13, 2018 | Uppsala, Sweden

The Bárány Society’s expanding reach was obvious at its most recent meeting in Uppsala, Sweden as more than 750 people attended the meeting, far exceeding expectations. The depth and breadth of the presentations have expanded with exciting research being presented in many areas. The worldwide community of clinical vestibular science and basic vestibular science investigators were in attendance to share knowledge and network. Some of the highlights of the meeting included the influence of the vestibular system on cognition and navigation and technology that is helping in our understanding of how damage to the vestibular system affects how we move and function. New technologies in the diagnosis of vestibular disorders were also shared with clinical implications discussed. The updates on progress regarding vestibular implants are very promising. The Bárány Society is growing with nearly 50 new members welcomed in Uppsala.
