Escaping the Pleasure Traphttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/escaping-the-pleasure-trap-with-alan-goldhamer/April 1st 2021Dr Alan Goldhamer 1.5Dr Alan Goldhamer has treated thousands of patients over more than thirty years helping them to break free of their dopamine-induced bad habits cycle.

Highly processed diets contain constituents that trigger strong neurological impulses to consume more and to consume often. Alan calls these constituents the SOS-alarm nutrients. This stands for Salt, Oils and Sugar. He explains in the short interview below how these work and also what he covers in his live webinar.

One of the biggest hurdles most clinicians face is getting their patients to make the changes that can get them well. Your patients know that they have to make changes and they also have the best of intentions, yet somewhere along the path to healthy-again, they trip up and fail to comply. You know how frustrating this can be. Imagine how challenging it is for your patients. They actually do want to do the right thing. They’ve started the process, but can’t seem to complete. The Pleasure Trap is a very large component of your patient’s failure to follow through on your recommendations.

Alan will discuss in detail how the Pleasure Trap works. How it strongly but insidiously steers people towards their unhealthy lifestyles and eventually poor health. He also has a successful clinical strategy to break your patients free of their dopaminergic shackles and get control of their behaviours. This gives power and satisfaction to your customers. It also results in much better patient outcomes. We hope you can join us for this insightful presentation.
Articulate, inspiring and energetic, Dr Goldhamer is one of the most pioneering and dedicated visionaries in health today. An outspoken professional who doesn’t shy away from a spirited debate, he is deeply committed to helping people stuck in self-destructive cycles reclaim their ability to change their lives. Dr Goldhamer has supervised the fasts of thousands of patients. His clinic has become one of the premier training facilities for doctors wishing to gain certification in the supervision of therapeutic fasting.

Dr Goldhamer was the principal investigator in two landmark studies. The first: “Medically Supervised Water-Only Fasting in the Treatment of Hypertension” appeared in the June 2001 issue of the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics. Its publication marked a turning point in the evolution of evidence supporting the benefits of water-only fasting. The second study: “Medically Supervised Water-Only Fasting in the Treatment of Borderline Hypertension,” appeared in the October 2002 issue of the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine.

Currently, Dr Goldhamer is directing a team that is developing a prospective study, incorporating random assignment and long-term follow-up on the cost and clinical outcomes in the treatment of diabetes and high blood pressure with fasting and a health-promoting diet. After completing his chiropractic education at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon, Dr Goldhamer travelled to Australia, where he became licensed as an osteopathic physician. He is the author of The Health Promoting Cookbook and co-author of The Pleasure Trap: Mastering The Hidden Force That Undermines Health and Happiness.

Naturopathic Hydrotherapy TWOhttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/naturopathic-hydrotherapy-two/February 18/25 and March 4th 2021Kate Broderick4.5Dr Kate Broderick’s Naturopathic Hydrotherapy Series ONE introduced the core principles and techniques of Hydrotherapy. It focused on generalised stimulation of the body’s self-healing mechanisms via the autonomic nervous system and circulatory tonification. The focus of the second series will be the therapeutic use of water to address dysfunction in specific tissues and organs, thus stimulating healing in a more targeted way.

Naturopathic Hydrotherapy is remarkably effective in a wide range of conditions. It is one of our most useful tools to modify parasympathetic/sympathetic neural balance and most of our autonomic functions. It is an old naturopathic practice that is in danger of being lost. By the end of this short course, you will be familiar with an array of useful and easy to administer naturopathic hydrotherapy treatments that target specific tissues or organs and be able to incorporate them into your patient treatment plans. Completion of the first webinar series is recommended in order to fully understand the physiology and mechanisms of actions that underlie these treatments.

Naturopathic Hydrotherapy is an economical, safe and very effective way to boost your clinical outcomes for many of the most common presentations that your patients are seeing you for.
Dr Kate Broderick, BSc, JD, DNM, Dip Acu, is a naturopath, five-element acupuncturist, natural health educator and writer. Her naturopathic practice in the Adelaide Hills, Anam Chara Natural Health, gravitates strongly to the traditions of individualised nature cure, herbal medicine, mind/body therapies and naturopathic hydrotherapy. Musculoskeletal Masterclasshttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/musculoskeletal-masterclass/From 10th February to 26th March 2021Dr Eugene Zampieron ND. MH, RH (AHG) and Dr Robert Silverman16.5Acute and chronic injuries are a very common clinical presentation. They are often associated with persistent, chronic physical pain. Most of these conditions can be substantially improved with the natural treatment protocols presented in this 11-part course. Practitioners utilising these treatments are getting great results, especially in conditions where there appears to be limited hope of improvement. In this Masterclass, you will learn new strategies for the most common injuries and disorders that you see in practice.

Many of the wide range of therapeutics that can be used for musculoskeletal disorders are rarely used by the majority of clinicians. These therapies include European and Chinese herbals, various nutraceuticals, exercise techniques, topical liniments, and poultices. Some of these are new, exciting nutriceuticals. Many are older, largely forgotten naturopathic tools and some are ancient Asian herbs and combinations. Even though they are so infrequently used, there is a large body of scientific evidence and substantial experiential support for them.

Your two presenters have considerable and varied clinical expertise in musculoskeletal injury and disorders. Dr Eugene Zampieron is an experienced naturopathic clinician with a black belt in two martial arts. Many of the remedies and techniques he will discuss, he has used on his fellow martial artists and also on some of the serious injuries that he has had. Dr Robert Silverman is a chiropractor with a strong interest and expertise in muscle and joint injury. See their bios below.

Both of your presenters have presented extensively on these topics in various settings. Eugene will give you exposure to a wide range of therapeutics, many of which are infrequently used but very effective. These include many Chinese herbal formulae and topical applications. Robert’s practical experience seeing musculoskeletal conditions every day gives and unique combination of skills and techniques to assist our patients with the many conditions covered in this program.

Also covered will be tissue resilience and injury prevention. Robert Silverman will present a Functional Fitness session where he will detail techniques and training strategies to increase tissue strength, improve stability to reduce injury, and also movement to reduce pain.

Deprescribing Masterclasshttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/the-deprescribing-masterclass/Dec 9 2020 - Feb 3rd 2021Christie Fleetwood ND RPh 12A startling number of people are exhibiting symptoms and diseases that are actually caused by the medications that they are taking. This is a highly under-recognised effect and one that demands much more of our attention.

Christie Fleetwood is a Pharmacist and Naturopath on a mission to highlight what she calls the ‘Diseases of the Drugs’. Recognising these unnecessary causes of harm is a shortcut to rapid improvements for many of your patients and you will overcome a block that was not going to shift without the drug being identified as the causative agent.

This eight-part Masterclass examines the most common iatrogenic diseases that you have presenting to your clinic but which you may not be recognising as being due to the medications that they are taking. You will find out which drugs they are, how the symptoms arise and what you can do to remove the offending medications.

Some of these drugs can be immediately discontinued and others need special deprescribing care. Christie gives you very clear directions on what the risks of deprescribing are and how you can make safe and effective recommendations.

This is an element of care that has, until now, not received appropriate attention and hopefully, will become much more recognised and help a large number of people.
Christie Fleetwood ND RPh earned her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University, in 1988. After practising as a retail pharmacist in the greater Richmond area of Seattle for a decade, she attended Bastyr University, earning a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine in 2004.

Because of her unique education and training, she is considered “medically bilingual” and able to understand both conventional medicine as well as natural forms of healing. Dr Fleetwood is adjunct faculty at both Bastyr University and National University of Natural Medicine teaching pharmacy/pharmacology and naturopathic philosophy.

Homoeopathy Masterclasshttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/clinical-homeopathy-masterclass/Nov 11 - Nov 24th 2020Linlee Jordan, Dr Judyth Reichenberg-Ullman, Dr Rajendran Scaria, Nyema Hermiston, Dr Farokh Master12A clinical approach that can have startling effects and yet is remarkably safe, is the appropriate inclusion of homeopathics in your patient’s care plan. Adding homeopathy to your clinical care is economical, easy to administer and can significantly improve results. This course has been developed for all clinicians to be able to easily utilise homeopathics in their practice with great results.

Homeopathics are unique in that they are prescribed for specific symptom characteristics that make them easy to apply to specific patients. When you see the clear symptoms that are discussed in this class, your remedy choice is obvious. And then we track those symptoms, waiting for a change and then a new prescription. Clinicians find that adding Homeopathics to their care plan boost the effects of whatever else you are doing for your patient.

Homeopathic remedies come into their own in several circumstances. One is when we have fussy or non-compliant patients. The remedies are so easy to take that even the most difficult patients take their remedies and get the results. A situation where they are invaluable is the complex patient. They often have multiple conditions and complicated history. By identifying a homeopathic remedy for each of these patients we often find they respond with quick results and a clarification of the case and its causes.

These are not-to-be-overlooked remedies that many clinicians have turned away from. It is a shame as they provide considerable clinical utility and are not difficult to master. This class has been designed to give easy access to the most useful, clinically valuable information on homeopathics, so you can start with them quickly and get results immediately. This is a practical program to get you going with homeopathics and has lots of tools, tips and strategies to help every one of your patients.

FROM THIS MASTERCLASS YOU WILL
Understand what homeopathics are and how they are made
Know how to integrate homeopathic into your patient’s care plan
Have remedies to apply in acute situations that will give very quick responses
Be able to recognise the key indicators that may remedies selection simple
Learn where to find these remedies
Discuss many interesting and instructive case studies
Have lots of new clinical treatment options
Achieve better clinical outcomes for practically all of your patients
Learn what to do in some difficult cases, e.g. depression, autoimmunity and various complex patient pictures

Oxalate Toxicityhttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/oxalate-toxicity/Nov 3rd - Nov 5th 2020Sally Norton3Persistent, high levels of oxalate in the body can lead to cellular and organelle injury, cell malfunction, cell death, nutrient loss, tissue malfunction, and “ageing”. Excessive oxalate consumption, especially in the context of nutrient deficiencies, is a root cause of a wide variety of health problems involving connective tissues, immunity, neurological function, digestive function, and genitourinary function.
Oxalates are produced as an end-product of human metabolism and must be excreted. But at least half of urinary oxalate comes from foods. Many of today’s popular foods contain high concentrations of oxalates which makes them capable of triggering cellular stress in the gut, vascular system, kidneys, and elsewhere. Unfortunately, many clinicians and their clients are unaware of the potential effects of the high oxalate content in some “health” foods. Although ubiquitous and abundant in nature, oxalic acid ions, calcium oxalate, and other oxalate forms are highly toxic. Calcium oxalate is not only the major constituent of kidney stones, it is also known to play a role in pain, arthritis, and neurological deterioration.
In this two-part webinar series, Dr Sally Norton examines the clinically powerful but relatively unknown topic of how oxalates can create disease and what to do about it. Sally’s webinars will change the way you think about today’s “superfoods”. Join us for new insights and tools for supporting your clients’ recovery process. You will be amazed how easily you can help your clients find a personalised dietary path out of pain, fatigue, brain dysfunction and more.

FROM THIS SERIES YOU WILL

* Recognise the chemical forms of oxalate and their properties
* Describe the mechanisms of oxalate toxicity including cell injury and inflammation
* Describe the Trigger and Maintenance Theory of oxalate bioaccumulation
* Identify popular foods that are extremely high in oxalate
* Know two precursors that are commonly consumed and also drugs containing oxalate
* Describe the role of diet and other factors that increase susceptibility to oxalate toxicity
* Describe the low-oxalate role in alleviating toxicity and associated symptoms
* Identify current diagnostic criteria
* Define a low-oxalate diet and its metabolic effects
* Identify safe dietary transition strategies
* Recognise clearing illness
* Identify support nutrients
Sally Norton, MPH has over 30 years in the health and wellness field. She is a nutritionist, consultant, writer, educator, and speaker specialising in oxalate education and helping people improve their health with an oxalate-avoiding diet. Sally holds a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University, Ithaca New York and a Master’s of Public Health degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.

For over 30 years, she struggled with her own seemingly unanswerable health puzzle, “Why would a person who knows how to build health have so many health difficulties that she cannot overcome?” She finally discovered the cause and the path out of the misery and committed to teaching and reaching out to others stuck in a similar frustrating situation.

She worked in the field of Integrative Medicine at the University of North Carolina Medical School as Project Manager for expanding medical education to include more awareness of holistic and alternative healing arts. Sally has published popular articles in academic and popular journals and appeared in numerous interviews discussing the widespread but little-known harmful effects of oxalates.

Emerging Pieces in the COVID-19 Puzzle
https://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/emerging-pieces-in-the-covid-19-puzzle/Oct 29 - Nov 5th 2020Christine Haughton3Christine Houghton is an astute follower of the latest clinical research and advances in natural therapeutics and she has some very interesting insights to share on the current global pandemic. This virus looks like it will be with us for a while yet so we need to know as much about it and what we can do about it as possible.

The novel COVID-19 coronavirus has thrown up some puzzling questions that are challenging both health professionals and scientists at this unprecedented time. A closer look at how this virus affects human cells reveals that there are a number of inbuilt defence mechanisms that the human immune system can use to mount a successful challenge against this virus. Translating this science can provide some practical strategies for both the prevention of infection and therapy for those infected. This series explores these little-known, evidence-based mechanisms of human cells including those specific to the immune system.

In addition to utilising these mechanisms, Christine discusses how we can implement some of the principles of nutrigenomics to provide a unique approach to addressing viral and microbial infections.

FROM THIS SERIES YOU WILL
Learn how this virus functions and causes serious infections
Understand how our innate immune system has in-built anti-infective mechanisms that we may be able to boost
Discover how to recruit defence systems other than our immunity to protect against infection
Learn how immune signalling processes work
Dive deep on the intricacies of our viral immune defences
Learn the role of cytokines in viral defence and how cytokine storms arise
Discover some valuable nutrigenomics principles that we can use to protect people against infection and also overcome an active infection
Dr Christine Houghton holds a PhD in Nutrigenomics and a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Queensland and she has a Graduate Diploma in Human Nutrition from Deakin University. She is a registered Nutritionist and Adjunct Lecturer in the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Science at the University of Queensland. After practising Nutritional Medicine for 3 decades, Christine’s interests currently lie in researching nutrigenomically-active phytochemicals and in offering her knowledge and experience to other clinicians.1/14/2021 16:33:32 - My Company Cell-Logic manufactures nutrigenomically-active raw materials and supplements.

New Concepts in Probioticshttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/new-concepts-in-probiotics-with-michael-ruscio/Oct 13, 2020Michael Ruscio1.5Michael Ruscio has prepared an up-to-date discussion on all the clinical must-knows of probiotics. Our probiotic medicines have become a mainstay of clinical care and keeping up with the research on them is essential. There have been many advances recently with some major concepts that we previously understood changing.

One of the interesting recent observations made about probiotics that Michael will discuss is that they can all be generally classed into three groups. This is valuable as it can greatly simplify the choice of organism for your patients. This is because probiotics are not condition-specific, and it’s often most effective to choose organisms from each category to best correct imbalances in your patient’s microbiome. This gives better results and improvements in many other symptoms and conditions at the same time.

Michael also discusses probiotic safety, the accuracy of label claims, effective dose of probiotics from foods, and an extensive discussion on the current evidence base for probiotics. This is a very clinically-useful webinar that will make your probiotic prescriptions more accurate and much more effective.

YOU WILL LEARN
Learn what high-level evidence is available for which probiotics and diseases
Review the mechanisms of probiotic effects
Learn what the three probiotic classifications are
See why using probiotics from all three classes may be the most effective prescription
Learn who probiotics are safe for and if they are safe for mothers and babies
Discover which early-life factors cause microbiota imbalance
Learn which probiotics do not meet their label stated potency or even existence of the strains claimed
Michael Ruscio is a doctor, clinical researcher and best-selling author whose practical ideas on healing chronic illness have made him an influential voice in functional and alternative medicine. His research has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals and he speaks at integrative medical conferences across the globe.

Dr Ruscio’s best-selling book, Healthy Gut, Healthy You, has paved the way for a ‘start with the gut’ philosophy which has enabled doctors and patient to obtain improved outcomes with minimal expense and effort. He is leading the charge to make alternative medicine more affordable, effective and practical, through a pragmatic application of evidence-based therapies. Dr Ruscio’s ability to objectively analyse medical literature has made him a trusted voice of reason; a voice he shares on his top-rated podcast and website.

Dr Ruscio fell ill during his twenties. He eventually found the cause of his problem was being driven by a gut infection. However, he wasted much time and money treating symptoms with natural therapies. Dr Ruscio’s hope, in his teaching, is to prevent other patients and clinicians from making this same mistake.

Dr Ruscio has a diverse training background. His undergraduate studies were in exercise science and pre-med. Binge Eating Interviewhttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/binge-eating-interview-with-glenn-livingstone/Oct 8, 2020Glenn Livingston1.5Dr Glenn Livingston strongly believes that our culture has created the perfect storm for overeating and uncontrolled behaviour.

Hyperpalatable food-like substances that concentrate fat, sugar, starch, sodium, and excitotoxins provide pleasure that our evolution never prepared us for. And advertising packages all of this up in ways that make it seem like we can’t live without them. This is making it very difficult for your patients to eat well consistently and stick to exercise plans.

Glenn Livingstone has developed an approach to binge eating that has helped a very large number of people eat well and keep eating well. It dramatically improves their ability to stick to any healthy food plan so they can achieve weight loss and/or fitness goals.

The live webinar is an interview-style discussion where we examine the reasoning behind binge eating and how we can most effectively assist our patients to master their own eating behaviours. Join us for this discussion to see why so many people struggle to stick to diets and how you can help them.

YOU WILL LEARN
Why rules work better than guidelines
Why character trumps willpower. Deciding what kind of person you want to be around a particular food is much more effective than “white-knuckling” it through temptation after temptation
How to commit with perfection, but forgive yourself with dignity
How to reduce the struggle so often associated with dieting
How to teach your clients to stop wasting their time and energy debating the ‘food master/monster’ inside them
A way to overcome the counter-productive thoughts and feelings associated with bingeing and overeating
Glenn Livingston PhD is a veteran psychologist and was the long time CEO of a multi-million dollar consulting firm which has serviced several Fortune 500 clients in the food industry. You may have seen his (or his company’s) previous work, theories, and research in major periodicals like The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Sun Times, The Indiana Star Ledger, The New York Daily News, American Demographics or any of the other major media outlets you see on this page. You may also have heard him on ABC, WGN, and/or CBS radio, or UPN TV.

Disillusioned by what traditional psychology had to offer overweight and/or food obsessed individuals, Dr Livingston spent several decades researching the nature of bingeing and overeating via work with his own patients and a self-funded research program with more than 40,000 participants. Most important, however, was his own personal journey out of obesity and food prison to a normal, healthy weight and a much more lighthearted relationship with food.

Postprandial Endotoxaemiahttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/postprandial-endotoxaemia-with-kiran-krishnan/Oct 1, 2020Kiran Krishnan1.5The most toxic time of your day is right after eating. The effect of the bolus of food entering your digestive tract is quite complex and in some people, extremely immunologically challenging.

Postprandial Endotoxaemia (PPE) is the breaching of the intestinal barrier to bacterial components after meals. Also called Metabolic Endotoxaemia, it affects approximately 50% of the healthy Western population and can remain subclinical for decades. PPE is characterised by increased serum endotoxin concentration during the first five hours of the postprandial period. It results in a persistent inflammatory response that we know has wide-ranging detrimental effects.

Eating is quite an immunological challenge for the gut mucosa and in some people it is severe. Postprandial Endotoxaemia is so inflammatory that it is a major predicted of many conditions including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, hypogonadism, autoimmunity, and even mood disorders such as anxiety and depression. Listen to Kiran Krishnan explain Postprandial Endotoxaemia and what it predicts.

Kiran Krishnan has presented for Health Masters LIVE several times and impressed us each time. This topic is certainly no different and he will likely change the way you think about food diet and gut function. You cannot completely correct any chronic condition without addressing Postprandial Endotoxemia.

YOU WILL LEARN
Learn why PPE is being called the number one cause of mortality worldwide
Review the mechanisms of the immune challenge from food
Learn how PPE arises subsequent to meal
See why inflammation is at the heart of virtually every chronic disease
Learn which dietary components contribute most to the inflammatory effects of eating
Discover how to assess your patient’s level of endotoxaemia
Learn which conditions we can directly associated with PPE and which conditions it strongly influences
Know how to modify someone’s diet and microbiome to reduce PPE induced inflammation
Kiran Krishnan is a Microbiologist who has been involved in the dietary supplement and nutrition market for the past 15 years. He comes from a strict research background having spent several years with hands-on R&D in the fields of molecular medicine and microbiology at the University of Iowa.

Naturopathic Hydrotherapyhttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/hydrotherapy-series-with-kate-broderick/Sept 17 - Sept 24 - Oct 1st 2020Kate Broderick4.5Naturopathic Hydrotherapy is one of our most useful tools to modify parasympathetic/ sympathetic neural balance and most of our autonomic functions. It is remarkably effective in a wide range of congestive, inflammatory, hormonal and neurological conditions. Dr Kate Broderick has prepared a three-part webinar series on this old naturopathic practice that is in some danger of being lost.

Dr Broderick uses hydrotherapy extensively and effectively in her practice for many acute and chronic diseases. Naturopathic Hydrotherapy utilises several means of applying hot and cold water to specific areas of the body. Temperature changes result in changes in neural function, elicits endocrine hormonal effects and alters blood flow to the extremities and the core so is very useful in many conditions. In this series, she will explain the physiology of hydrotherapy, how to appropriately use hydrotherapy in your clinic and importantly, which techniques to use in which conditions.

The hot and cold water applications may involve foot and hand baths, wrapping, saunas and steam baths and full or partial immersion baths. Naturopathic Hydrotherapy is a cheap, safe and very effective way to boost your clinical outcomes for many of the most common presentations patients are seeing you for. This course will give you many strategies that you can apply straight away in practically all of your patients. You can add it to your current treatments for little cost or adverse effects.
Dr Kate Broderick, BSc, JD, DNM, Dip Acu, is a naturopath, five-element acupuncturist, natural health educator and writer. Her naturopathic practice in the Adelaide Hills, Anam Chara Natural Health, gravitates strongly to the traditions of individualised nature cure, herbal medicine, mind/body therapies and naturopathic hydrotherapy. She received her Bachelor of Science from Texas A&M University, Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University, and Diploma of Acupuncture from the Wu Hsing Tao School.

Kate has worked in various roles in naturopathic academia since 2009, including as Director of Education at Endeavour College of Natural Health from 2014-2016. She is a member of the Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia and has been registered as an acupuncturist (currently non-practicing) by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

She is co-author of the chapter on Naturopathic Hydrotherapy in the latest edition of the Textbook of Natural Medicine, author of the chapter on Naturopathic Philosophy in the 2nd edition of Clinical Naturopathic Medicine, and author of the chapter on Naturopathic Hydrotherapy in the recently released Advanced Clinical Naturopathic Medicine.

Nutritional Update 2020https://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/nutritional-update-2020-with-alan-gaby/Sep 3, 2020Alan Gaby1.5Keeping up to date is necessary but not always easy; there is an enormous amount of new data coming through on natural medicine.

Dr Alan Gaby is one of the most respected names in our industry and is an assiduous follower of the medical publications. Each year he prepares a summary of the most useful clinical findings in natural health care. He will cover a number of conditions and nutrients in the discussion and share how he feels each of these findings are relevant to patient care.

The vitamin D supplementation controversy
Accuracy of vitamin D testing
Fish oil and risk of perioperative bleeding
Black elderberry for respiratory infections
Vegan diet and its effect on inflammation
Effects of gluten on Tourette syndrome and schizophrenia
Nutrient effects on autism
Probiotics and periodontal disease
Vitamin C and fractures
Alpha-lipoic acid and tinnitus
A particular topic that Alan has been investigating is the very interesting issue of research fraud. Alan gives some compelling evidence that fake papers are being published in high numbers from specific countries. Being alert for and able to spot these is critical for our industry.
Dr Alan Gaby MD received his undergraduate degree from Yale University, his M.S. in biochemistry from Emory University, and his M.D. from the University of Maryland. He was in private practice for 17 years, specializing in nutritional medicine.

He is past-president of the American Holistic Medical Association and gave expert testimony to the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine on the cost-effectiveness of nutritional supplements. He is the author of Preventing and Reversing Osteoporosis (Prima, 1994), and The Doctor’s Guide to Vitamin B6 (Rodale Press, 1984), the co-author of The Patient’s Book of Natural Healing (Prima, 1999), and has written numerous scientific papers in the field of nutritional medicine. He has been the contributing medical editor for the Townsend Letter for Doctors since 1985, and contributing editor for Alternative Medicine Review since 1996.

Over the past 30 years, he has developed a computerized database of more than 26,000 individually chosen medical journal articles related to the field of natural medicine. He was professor of nutrition and a member of the clinical faculty at Bastyr University in Kenmore, WA, from 1995 to 2002. He is Chief Science Editor for Aisle 7 (formerly Healthnotes, Inc). He has appeared on the CBS Evening News and the Donahue Show. In 2010, Dr Gaby completed a 30-year project, a textbook of nutritional medicine.

Cardiovascular disease is a unique condition in that we have significant insight into both of these, the causes and the indicators of disease and its progression. This makes cardiovascular disease the ideal target for chronic disease prevention and life extension.

This course will give you many strategies that you can apply straight away in practically all of your adult patients. Implement a cardiovascular disease prevention program now.

At his core, Joel believes that plant-based nutrition is the most powerful source of preventative medicine on the planet. Having practiced traditional cardiology since 1983, it was only after his own commitment to a plant-based vegan diet that he truly began to delve into the realm of non-traditional diagnostic tools, prevention tactics and nutrition-based recovery protocols. These ideologies led him to change his approach and focus on being a holistic cardiologist.

He passionately lectures throughout the country about the health benefits of a plant-based, anti-aging diet inspiring a new generation of thought leaders to think scientifically and critically about the body’s ability to heal itself through proper nutrition.

Through a personal family experience and the lens of functional medicine, he came to realise the huge impact that nutrition, lifestyle and the environment have on the postnatal period. Dr Serrallach has spent the past eight years devoted to the identification and treatment of postnatal depletion.

“I so deeply believe that mothers are the fabric of our society – a healthy society needs healthy families, and healthy families rely on healthy mothers. And yet I see so many women at my clinic who are chronically depleted, and only come to see me after years of being this way, at the point of desperation.”

Dr Serrallach has developed a process that addresses the requirements of fourth-trimester healing and provides personalised treatment plans for patients experiencing postnatal depletion.

“I have seen mothers not only return to a vibrant state of health but also transformed and enlightened by the journey. It is my wish that Mothers be fully supported in their physical and emotional wellbeing to fully experience the joy and fulfilment of motherhood once more.”

Functional Assessment for Mental Healthhttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/functional-assessment-for-mental-health/Jun 1, 2020Dr Kristin Allott4.5Mental Health disorders are complex, varied and frequently misdiagnosed. Many of the signs and symptoms that we attribute to depression and anxiety can also be due to other causes. By identifying an underlying nutritional deficiency or inflammatory response in someone we can sometimes unravel a complex array of symptoms that were thought to be a mental health disorder but are clearly not.

Kristen Allott has been taking this approach with her patients for a decade. She has had some amazing improvements in her patients with some simple adjustment to their diet or often just by repairing fundamental nutritional deficiencies.

The fatigue and mood changes of anaemia are frequently found in patients with depression. And the inflammatory response has deep neurological effects and needs to be considered and assessed more often. Kristen will show us how to conduct a physical examination to rule out physical trauma as potential causes that may be contributing to their symptoms.

Register to learn a holistic approach for the care of this rapidly increasing and often dangerous diagnosis. Learn more about Kristen Allott and this three-part webinar series below.

FROM THIS SERIES YOU WILL
Learn which factors can mimic the symptoms of several mental health conditions
Discover what to test for to uncover hidden contributors
See how simple changes can make substantial differences to mood, attention and calmness
Which parameters in a CBC are relevant to consider in mental health disorders
Review iron metabolism and how anaemia affects mood and energy
Review treatment suggestions for all of the discussed defects

Plant-Based Nutrition Masterclasshttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/plant-based-nutrition-masterclass/May 6-Jun 4, 2020Robyn Chuter BHSc(Hons), ND, GDCouns; Clare Mann BSC(Hons) MA MSc Post Grad Dip (Couns); Emma Strut APD13.5There is enormous interest in plant-based eating right now and the research is proving it to be one of our most potent therapies in many chronic conditions. The Plant-Based Nutrition Masterclass is a deep exploration of the applications of plant-based nutrition and essentially, how to implement these for specific conditions.

Most of the illness and poor health besieging our communities is diet-based and highly preventable. This Masterclass will equip you with skills and plans to implement life-changing therapeutic diets. This is where natural medicine shines. We have the opportunity, more than almost all healthcare providers to spend the time to educate and support patients through the changes they can make to their current and future health. This will be a thorough examination of therapeutic diets and how to differentiate and apply them. See below to find out which conditions the program will cover.

Even modest dietary changes can make substantial differences to your patients. A less inflammatory, more phytonutrient dense diet is often what people need more than anything else. Establishing some of the principles that will be covered must form the basis of all healthy lifestyles.

Robyn Chuter and Emma Strut are both highly experienced and respected dieticians. Robyn is also a naturopath and counsellor. Between them, they have created a program that delves deep into the clinically relevant aspects of plant-based dietary recommendations. They will show you how to best apply them to your patients. Joining them is organisational and counselling psychologist Clare Mann who is covering the challenges people are facing with their dietary choices. Some people are finding it very difficult to make healthier dietary choices amongst friends and family who are less accepting and occasionally hostile to their efforts. Clare will discuss how we can support these people to pursue their most healthy selves.

This is a packed program with lots of tools, options and strategies to help curb our pandemic of chronic diseases.

FROM THIS MASTERCLASS YOU WILL
Understand the wide scope of plant-based dietary options – flexitarian, pescatarian, raw, and many others
Know how to substantially reduce the inflammatory nature of your patient’s diets
Be able to support those people that choose plant-based diets
Learn what the nutrients of concern might be for plant-based eaters and how to accommodate these
Receive numerous handouts and meal plans to assist dietary compliance
Learn how plant-based diets impact our microbiome
Know when a plant-based diet is not meeting your clients’ needs and must be revised
Have lots of new dietary and nutritional tools to assist your patients
Be able to recognise when a client’s diet is extreme and needs to be addressed
Know how to support athletes when they have various dietary preferences
Achieve better clinical outcomes for people with robust dietary principles

Clare additionally has extensive international experience in the areas of communication, leadership, executive coaching, organisational development and work/life integration. She has been awarded fellowships to both the Australian Human Resources Institute and the British Psychological Society for her contribution to those professions.

Vagal Nervehttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/vagal-nerve-therapies/April 2020Robert Silverman1.5Your vagus nerve has significant effects on many physiological functions including your heart rate, breathing rate, blood pressure, fear and anxiety management, appetite and satiety, stress and relaxation responses, peristalsis and enteral secretions. If vagal tone (neural signal) is weak, this interferes with the brain’s main communication pathway with many organs, as well as increasing inflammation.

It is the longest and most complex of the 12 cranial nerves having both sensory and motor function. Vagus is Latin for wandering indicating that it innervates a wide range of body organs. The vagus nerves coordinate many autonomic functions by linking the neck, heart, lungs and the abdominal organs to the brainstem.

Join us for an incisive 90-minute webinar with industry expert, Dr Robert Silverman, as he discusses how to navigate through this intricate neural pathway. Dr Silverman will share a leading-edge natural approach to improving your patients’ health through enhanced vagus nerve regulation and function.

FROM THIS CLASS YOU WILL
Understand the fundamental anatomy and functions of the vagus nerve
Discover a vagus nerve nutritional support protocol
See how low-level laser therapy can effect on the vagus nerve
Discover the vagus nerve’s role in the interface of microbiota-gut-brain axis
Know how to stimulate the vagus nerve

In this live interview, he will be giving us an update on the COVID-19 pandemic but also a very good overview of epidemics, the process of viral infections and viral contagion.

It’s valuable for us as clinicians to have a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms and the idiosyncrasies of viral infections. It’s valuable in our current pandemic but also generally so that we better understand viruses, the flu and the many other viral infections we and our patients can get. // Herbal medicine as a long history of use with viruses including coronaviruses. Eugene Zampieron has put together a comprehensive review of what we know about the most effective herbs and essential oils. Also, just emerging from China are many case studies and several research papers showing very interesting effects of herbs on the new virus.

This is an extensive, research-based discussion and there will be plenty of time for you to ask Eugene any questions that you have on coronaviruses and their care. // These are uncertain times, however we must protect ourselves and our loved ones and learn what we can do proactively to prevent the spread of this pandemic. This includes preparing our natural immunity for maximum protection.

Healthy patients are much less likely to get a chronic OR infectious disease. Dr Silverman will discuss how viruses, including Coronavirus, attack our bodies. Addictions Masterclasshttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/addictions-masterclass/April 1-29, 2020Dr Carolyn Coker Ross MD, MPH, CEDS; Christina Veselak MS, LMFT, CN; Carolyn B. Allard PhD, ABPP; Kate Martin M.Ed., Dr Rebecca Williams13.5The number of people with addictions is enormous. And it’s getting worse. In the United States, 1 in 10 people have a substance abuse disorder. Some 31 million people worldwide have a drug use disorder. The Addictions Masterclass is a thorough, 9-part program that reveals the neurobiology of addiction and how we can have substantial effects on people’s lives.

Drug addiction is a chronic brain disease. Drug and alcohol abuse can have a wide range of short- and long-term, direct and indirect effects. Repeated drug use changes the brain and leads to addiction. It causes a person to take drugs repeatedly, despite the harm they cause. By addictions, we mean gambling, internet gaming, sex, drugs, alcohol, nicotine, screen and any other substance or thing with abuse potential.

The changes in the addicted brain can be lasting, so drug addiction is considered a “relapsing” disease. This means that people in recovery are at risk for taking drugs again, even after years of not taking them.

Led by Dr Carolyn Ross and her expert team of associates, this program will give you a thorough overview of this disease and give you new skills in recognising and assisting those with addictions. The presenters will discuss the most effective methods for identifying drug and alcohol abuse, the neurobiology of addictions, the impact of attachment issues in the genesis of addiction, the effect on the individual as well as on their family and many nutritional therapies for addressing addictions.

FROM THIS MASTERCLASS YOU WILL
Understand the neurobiological process of addiction and how it changes the brain
Know when you have someone that may have a problem with addiction
Learn the characteristic features and diagnostic criteria of addictions
Learn how trauma can impact a person’s risk to substance abuse
Learn how to manage process addictions like gambling, internet gaming and sex
Have lots of nutritional and emotional tools to assist these patients
Receive clear protocols on how to approach the diverse range of addiction presentations
Achieve much better clinical outcomes for these people who have complex presentations and otherwise poor prognosis

Mould Toxicity Serieshttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/mould-toxicity-series/Feb 18-Mar 3, 2020Dr Sandeep Gupta, Nicole Bijlsma ND4.5Most of your patients are exposed to unhealthy levels of mould in their bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and living rooms. And most often, they have no idea that it’s there or that it’s making them sick. We spend 90% of our lives indoors and the air in here can be more toxic than the air outside, even in highly industrialised cities!

As a healthcare provider, we need to be constantly on the alert for mould toxicity as a contributor to our patient’s illness.

Mould toxicity is quite a clinical challenge. The range of symptoms is very broad so pinning a patient’s presentation down to mould requires a trained eye. It is almost certain that you are seeing people that are being affected by mould in their homes. In the past 20 years, we have seen the emergence of epidemics of allergies, depression, behavioural disorders and a huge number of people complain of fatigue, muddled thinking and flat mood; all potentially being contributed to by mould.

Two widely-recognised experts will teach you how to recognise the mould-toxic patient and also identify the water-damaged building. Dr Sandeep Gupta and Nicole Bijlsma are both highly impassioned clinicians with considerable expertise and experience in this area. Their bios are below and you can listen to each of them discuss their presentations below. FROM THIS MASTERCLASS YOU WILL
Know when to suspect mould toxicity in a client
Learn how to screen for mould toxicity
Learn how to diagnose mould toxicity
Have a clear approach to recovering a client with mould toxicity
Learn what happens to a water damaged house to create mould toxicity
Know how to take a history that identifies a mould-toxic home
Learn the processes to test and also to remediate a mould-toxic house

Physical Diagnostics Masterclasshttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/physical-diagnostics-masterclassFeb 5-28Dr Eugene Zampieron ND. MH, RH (AHG)12There is a huge amount of information about our patients right in front of our noses that can be easily missed. Much of what we can discern about our patients through physical diagnostics cannot be determined any other way. Unfortunately, physical diagnostics appears to be a skill that we’re losing. Before our modern diagnostics labs, clinicians relied on their keen observation and questioning skills to get good insights into the problems and idiosyncrasies of our patents. These are still incredibly valuable tools to have at our disposal that are immediate, free and accurate.

This Masterclass is a thorough study of the old diagnostic ways and also the very new techniques that we can use with every patient. It will change the way you process new intake patients and also your returning patients. Much better information about your patient’s physiology results in much better diagnostics and thereby excellent clinical outcomes.

Dr Eugene Zampieron has presented for Health Masters LIVE previously and this is his pedigree topic. He will cover all body systems and show us how to conduct a systematic head to toe patient examination. Eugene has taught this material for many years and it is highly rated by his students.

FROM THIS MASTERCLASS YOU WILL
Have a systematic process of how to give patients a thorough physical exam
Recognise immediate signs indicating underlying functional disorders
Know what to look for when your patient presents with specific symptoms
Learn what is a normal variation of a finding and what is pathognomonic of an underlying problem
Understand how your physical exam findings arise from underlying causes
Achieve reliable clinical outcomes with better information about your patient
Dr. Eugene R. Zampieron is a licensed Naturopathic physician, Medical Herbalist and Professional Member of the American Herbalist Guild. He is a 1990 alumni of Bastyr University of Natural Health Sciences receiving his doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine with honors. He is an expert in the biochemistry & pharmacology of plant based medicine from around the globe, as well as clinical phytotherapeutics.

Dr. Zampieron, a.k.a ‘Dr.Z’, was on the elite founding advisory board that helped firmly establish the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine as the first accredited naturopathic medical college on the US Eastern seaboard. He is currently the senior-most faculty member at the institution.

Eugene teaches and has taught many courses including rheumatology, botanical medicine, phytopharmacognosy, botanical pharmacy, urology, geriatrics, and history of natural medicine. Eating and Appetite Disordershttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/the-eating-disorders-masterclass/Jan 7 - Feb 1Dr Carolyn Coker Ross MD, MPH, CEDS; Leslie Binch; Courtney Phifer MS, RD, LDN; Michelle Lelwica, Julie Dillon13.5Eating disorders are tricky. They are psychological and also physiological so we need to have a deep understanding of these issues to effect good patient outcomes. And good outcomes are needed. These are serious and often life-threatening conditions. In many areas, the incidence is increasing and the age at which eating disorders are occurring is decreasing.

This Eating and Appetite Disorders Masterclass has been developed to give you a deep understanding of the complexities of:

Anorexia nervosa
Bulimia nervosa
Binge eating disorder
Food addiction
Emotional eating
Reward deficiency syndrome
Led by Dr Carolyn Ross and her expert team of associates, this program is a thorough overview of these conditions and will give you considerable skills in recognising and assisting those with eating and appetite disorders. See the full program and presenters bios below.

Diagnosing eating disorders can be difficult. A common issue with these patients is that they tend to deny and/or conceal their illness to avoid professional help. Not all patients will be detected by their clinicians and so few receive specialist care despite the severe risks.

People with eating disorders have higher levels of mental disorders and also higher morbidity and mortality. The incidence of diagnosed eating disorders is relatively low in the population but there is a major long-term burden in morbidity and mortality to these individuals. There is a great deal we can do to stop these people from slipping through the cracks. And we have many reliable tools and therapies to get them back on track living a healthy life and eating appropriately.
Dr Carolyn Coker Ross MD, MPH, CEDS is an internationally known author, speaker, expert and pioneer in the use of Integrative Medicine for the treatment of eating disorders and addictions. She is a graduate of Andrew Weil’s Fellowship Program in Integrative Medicine.

Dr Ross is the CEO of The Anchor Program, an online coaching program for binge eating disorder, emotional eating and food addiction. She is the former head of the eating disorder program at internationally renowned Sierra Tucson and has served as medical director at two other programs.

Dr Ross is a consultant for treatment centres around the US who want to include her unique integrative medicine approach to help clients recovering from eating disorders and addictions. She is the author of three books, the most recent of which is The Food Addiction Recovery Workbook. // Leslie Binch is a full-time private practice therapist in Nashville, Tennesee. Prior to this, she worked as a Primary Therapist at the Recovery Ranch and at Integrative Life Center where she specialized in treating eating disorders, addiction and trauma.

Leslie has studied and completed advanced training in Comprehensive Resource Model therapy, Level I, and II Brainspotting, as well as training in DBT, CBT, and in Neuro-Affective Relational Model therapy – all helpful in treating trauma. She went back to graduate school to become a therapist after seeing first-hand what an experience committing to therapy with a skilled therapist did for her own life. // Courtney Phifer MS, RD, LDN is a registered dietitian who provides individual nutrition counselling and education to adults and adolescents for a variety of issues, including eating disorders, disordered eating patterns, emotional eating, medical diagnoses, weight management, meal planning, etc. She helps clients develop a healthy relationship with food by practising a non-diet approach of balance and moderation, teaching permission vs. restriction.

She prides herself on being a nutrition myth-buster. Courtney has worked in behavioural health for over ten years, specializing in eating disorders and addictions. She uses a small-step goal-oriented client-driven approach incorporating body-positive, mindfulness, connection to body cues practices and more. // Michelle Lelwica is Professor of Religion at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, where she teaches courses on the intersection of religion, gender, culture, and the body. She did her graduate work at Harvard Divinity School, where she received a Masters of Theological Studies in Christianity and Culture (1989) and a Doctorate of Theology in Religion Gender and Culture (1996).

She is the author of Shameful Bodies: Religion and the Culture of Physical Improvement (Bloomsbury, 2017), The Religion of Thinness: Satisfying the Spiritual Hungers Behind Women’s Obsession with Food and Weight (Gürze Press, 2009), and Starving for Salvation: The Spiritual Dimensions of Eating Problems among American Girls and Women (Oxford University Press, 1999), as well as scholarly articles and popular blogs that explore women’s conflicted relationships with their bodies.

She has also published articles and taught courses that focus on mindfulness practice and social justice. She has two teenage boys whose endless activities and strong spirits challenge her to continue growing as a whole person. // Julie Duffy Dillon is a Registered Dietitian, Eating Disorder Specialist, and Food Behavior Expert specializing in PCOS.

She is trained as a mental health counsellor and supervises dietitians and other health professionals to use weight inclusive and attuned eating strategies to promote health and recover from disordered eating.

Julie has seen clients since 2005 in her Greensboro NC private practice and the voice behind the weekly podcast, Love Food.

Pain and Inflammation Masterclasshttps://www.healthmasterslive.com/product/pain-and-inflammation-masterclass/Dec 19 - Jan 23Howard Schubiner, MD

12A surprisingly large number of people are experiencing chronic, persistent and debilitating pain. Pain that is unrelenting and a terrible burden on their lives. Natural medicine is able to provide vital relief to these people.

A fascinating aspect of pain is that it is not real. The brain creates pain. It’s constructed from the collected inputs of neural activation, memories and expectations. This is a critical understanding of how to approach the patient in chronic pain. The blunt approach to quenching pain as a symptom is predictably ineffective. Medical care is often one dimensional and does not get to the core of the problem. Natural methods are very effective and much, much safer.

The Pain and Inflammation Masterclass will give you a very good understanding of what chronic pain actually is, how it arises and therefore, what you are able to do to reduce pain and repair the processes contributing to it.

Chronic pain impacts many facets of people’s lives. The suffering is ongoing and contributes to many other problems including mental health issues. Those with chronic pain have a higher risk of depression, anxiety, substance abuse and suicide. They also have a reduced life expectancy with higher cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.

The severity of the impact of pain on people’s lives is compounded by the precipitous nature of pain medication. Diagnosis and monitoring of pain are problematic and the pharmacological solutions are often mismanaged and fraught with side effects including addiction.

Your Masterclass presenters are all experts in Pain Care. They have considerable expertise in their chosen specialties and have lots of valuable clinical tips and strategies to share. FROM THIS MASTERCLASS YOU WILL LEARN
How pain arises from multiple stimuli
What effects chronic pain has on other body systems
What healthy sleep looks and functions like
How to use mind-body medicine and mindfulness to alter the pain experience
How to assess and monitor chronic pain symptoms
Nutritional and herbal treatments for managing chronic pain
Which SNPs predispose to increased pain experience and reduced analgesic effectiveness
How cannabis affects pain and how to use it most effectively
