The body of a man has been found in a wooded area of Knottingley.

West Yorkshire Police were called to Holes Lane, Knottingley on Tuesday night following reports of a concern for safety for a man. When officers arrived around 7pm the body of a man had been found and pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.

A huge cordon remained in place in Holes Lane and in the wooded area off Forge Hill Lane on Tuesday, July 18. The cordon has since been removed by police.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Police were called to Holes Lane, Knottingley, shortly before 7pm last night to a report of a concern for safety for a man.

"The man was pronounced deceased by paramedics a short time later. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner."
