2019 Men's Discipleship Cohort
Our Men’s Cohort is set to begin in September and will run for 3 months. We'll meet on the third Thursday of each month at Salvatore's Pizzeria from 7:00 pm - 9:30pm. Pastor Kris will lead the monthly meetings, and you'll be expected to attend each of them along with having completed the monthly reading and writing assignments before each meeting. We don't want this to be an intimidating experience, but we want our potential leaders to be challenged and to consider the cost before committing to the cohort. If you're interested in serving the church in a ministry capacity, or if you sense that you're being called to disciple other men, we encourage you to consider the Men’s Discipleship Cohort and submit the form below.

In order to be a part of this year’s cohort, each participant will have to commit to meeting with at least one other man (preferably 2-3 per small group), one other time (preferably weekly) between our cohort meetings to discuss what God might be showing you through his Word or our reading material. You'll receive a reading schedule of 1-2 books and article per month with a writing assignment to be turned in the Monday before our monthly meeting. This will help each of us to be prepared for our meetings, having read/studied/discussed the weeks between our meetings. Last-minute cramming or showing up not having read or prepared for the meeting indicates that you may not be called to leadership at this time or may not have the margin to continue in the cohort. We want to set the bar of commitment high because of the financial and pastoral investment that the church is making in each participant. We also want to create space in your life for 3 months that leaves room for personal study and discipling other men for the rest of the year.

This cohort is designed for men who are active partners at Anchor Church who believe that they have the time and energy to invest in further leadership training to disciple other men and explore other areas of ministry that God may be calling them to serve/lead. Partnership with Anchor is a minimum - it is assumed that you'll live, give, serve, grow, and go (anchorchurchonline.org/partnership). Meaning, you're available and actively present at church gatherings, special events, community group gatherings, and especially at men’s ministry events and gatherings as you’re able; you're giving financially regularly, cheerfully, and sacrificially; you're serving - and not just when you're scheduled and not just on Sundays; you're a fan of Jesus and regularly encouraging people to find hope in Jesus with us at Anchor Church. These things and more are what we'd ask any partner to consider, but for the kind of leadership we're discussing in this cohort, we're expecting that each of us is pursuing an active partnership in the gospel ministry of Anchor Church.

In order to be considered for this year's cohort, we need to receive your form (below) by Sunday, August 25th, so that Pastor Kris can purchase your first book and get it to you in time for our first meeting in September. Our hope is that Anchor will be a strategic outpost of the Kingdom of God raising up a generation of men and women who are passionate about the Gospel of Jesus and passionate about making disciples of Jesus.
