CAE Regional Teaching Exchange Saturday, 04 May 2019 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Oceanside Campus Room 4526, Building 4500 astro@miracosta.edu REGISTER FOR WORKSHOP |
MiraCosta College and the Center for Astronomy Education welcome faculty and prospective instructors of pretty much any STEM discipline to the 10th annual Southwest Regional Teaching Exchange. (While the focus is typically on astronomy, physics, and geosciences, instructors of other STEM disciplines, particularly biology, math, and chemistry, often participate.) Introductory, upper division, high school, even graduate levels can benefit since you - the participants - steer our interactions. Choose from a list of topics and/or suggest your own. Discipline-based education research, assessment, teaching online, quantitative problem-solving, how people learn, outreach, technology in the classroom, curriculum development, and more. What will help you help your students achieve the learning goals?
CAE Regional Teaching Exchanges are designed to foster a sense of community amongst geographically linked current and future instructors. We at CAE don't want you to feel isolated and we don't want you to have to wait to attend (or re-attend) a Tier I Teaching Excellence Workshop to continue your professional development. We have regional experts from the broader CAE community ready, willing, and able to provide the opportunity for you to meet your neighbors, expand your instructional repertoire, and share your own expertise. So grab your colleagues - instructors, graduate students, and postdocs alike - and join the Exchange!
Registration is free. We expect to provide light morning refreshments and a modest lunch.
