Sarah O'Rourke is actually TWO besties who live three states apart and write at all hours of the day and night! Born and raised in the Southern United States, they are overly attached to their one-click accounts, can’t make it through the day without copious doses of caffeine, and spend way too much time on the phone with each other.
Between them, they have four children and eighteen years of marriage...one to a super soldier and the other to egomaniac engineer. They hate empty chocolate wrappers and writer’s block, love to talk to readers...and oh, by the way, they write about strong, kick-ass women and hot alpha heroes!

Abel Turner is the Paradise town attorney working on the case involving the Sisters but more important to Abel is getting a do-over with Patience. “Between her natural beauty, sassy mouth and kickass body, there wasn’t a single quality about her that didn’t call to the inner caveman.” And this feeling had been growing. He knows how he hopes the do-over will change their lives, he just never thought of what it really brings.
Ready, Willing and Abel can be read as a standalone, which is what I did, but I think you would get more out of the stories if you read them all. Sarah O’Rourke gives us a suspense romance with funny, sassy sisters who you want to find their happily ever after. The storytelling is funny, sharp and attention holding. It is a who-done-it wrapped in major humor. You will love the cast of characters that colorfully make up Paradise. I was given this for a fair review. Give Sarah O’Rourke’s Ready, Willing and Abel a try, I know I intend to go back and read the whole Passion in Paradise: The Men of the McKinnon Sisters series.

There were some twists I didn't anticipate to this story which kept it fresh and kept the plot moving forward which was great. Abel and Patience (although somewhat unorthodox when the insults and inanimate objects began hurling) made a hilariously sweet, hot, intense couple that you routed for from the very first page to the very last. When you put them together with their crazy bunch of family and friends and the rest of the quirky town it made for a book I didn't want to out down!

I must admit, I’ve been intrigued over the past few books, as to how this book was going to play out. You see our heroine, Patience, and our hero, Abel….well, they have a history. And it isn’t a very good one. She has been brutal towards him in the last few books. If words could destroy, yeah, I’m surprised this man didn’t leave town, tail tucked between legs (where his penis is supposed to be, according to Patience). A lesser man would have. But, nope, Abel has proved to be a man…a very worthy man at that and is proving time and again that he IS the man to bring this very stubborn and determined McKinnon woman to her knees (um, yeah literally). After celebrating a family engagement one evening in the family bar and dealing with Patience and her antics….Abel has decided he wants a do-over. Just one night to make up for the bad experience he gave her years ago. Yep, you read that right. He screwed the pooch the first time so know he wants to properly fix the problem and make it all better. Ahhhh, Patience….this girl is anything but her name. She has got to be one of the most stubborn and mule-headed heroines I have ever read in my entire life. That is over 30 years of reading books so that is saying something. She could make a donkey look like a docile lap dog! She has barely any give and I spent plenty of time wanting to smack the woman silly just to get her to give a little bit of lee-way. No worries, though! Abel takes her in hand….ok, I’m not going to spoil the do-over for you. You simply must read it. It is full of fireworks. Not the little sparklers and tiny little bottle rockets either. Nope! I’m talking the big boom ones full of bright and bold colors that go on and on and are synchronized to music. It’s that powerful! But three months later there is a surprise, one that Patience never planned for in her life and that is where this book gets very real. I love the journey this author takes us on from here. From a woman who never wanted kids finding out she is pregnant and the journey that follows after, we get to live each moment with Patience and Abel. We get to experience their ups and downs as they navigate the path that is parenthood while they find their footing in a relationship that Patience was unsure of to begin with. Abel begins to understand why Patience is so hesitant to be in a relationship and Patience learns that not everything in life has to end, that sometimes the end of something can be the beginning of something else even more beautiful. There are moments that are so hilarious that I about died laughing and others so emotional I cursed the author because no book should make you cry so much. This book has a fast paced plot that naturally flows and keeps you guessing and highly entertained (seriously, they don’t even make TV shows this good anymore). The secondary characters are just as enjoyable as the main characters without taking the spotlight away from them. We, of course, have an evil bad person. Well, there is more than one. And, while this book can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend that you read the entire series as a whole to get the maximum enjoyment out of it. Overall, there is so much to this book, and this series, I can’t imagine the time and attention these two authors must devote to create such a well-developed and emotionally-charged storyline. It is truly a masterpiece. And while I am on pins and needles waiting to read the final McKinnon Sister Story, the story of Honor (which is going to be the most heartbreaking and poignant love story of the series, I’m sure) I will be devastated to see this series come to an end. I’ve never met this author (which is a duo of two women) and until two months ago, never even heard of her. But I can honestly say this series is one of the best series I have ever read.
What Didn’t Work For Me:
Are you kidding me? This is perfection!
Would I Recommend This Book:
Yes! From the rooftops of my house to everyone who will listen!
Final Star Rating:

Patience's character had intrigued me from the start of the series and I was ready to get to know her and the man who obviously adores her in more depth. Firecracker. That is the best word to describe Patience. Though Abel would say Hellion. She is sassy, bold, unapologetic and loves fiercely. But don't cross her or her sisters or you've gone to war with the wrong woman. After one intense night, she finds herself in an unexpected situation. Her reaction- disbelief, anger and then fear were very realistic and true to her character. This is the catalyst for everything else that happens in the book- and what a ride it was.
There is no shortage of drama in the small Tennessee town. If it isn't putting back the pieces after a drug-related shooting, there is a raging ex-girlfriend. As if that isn't enough, there are threats coming from an unknown source and exactly who they're being directed at is also anyone's guess. What I loved was that it sent Abel, and all of the men, really, into protection mode. He isn't going to let anything or anyone, even Patience, stand in his way of getting his woman. I liked that while he was throwing down the gauntlet, he gave his woman the time she needed to come to the realization that this was going to happen. Oh, that Abel. Is is equal parts broody, sexy and sweet. His big grand gesture towards the end put a major smile on my face.
But, of course, there was that jaw dropping moment that had me holding my breath. I was furiously reading to see what would happen and to make sure that everyone was going to be alright. Holy smokes, talk about heart pounding. Ugh- my heart was aching for everyone- from Patience and Abel to Honor and Zeke. Yes! There was a hearty dose of Honor and Zeke in this book. Those two- just- wow. This was is a great lead up to what will be the next book in the series.

This is the story of Patience McKinnon and Abel Turner. Patience and Abel had one night of unremarkable sex three years prior to the beginning of the book. Since that time to say that their relationship has been cantakourous is putting it mildly. But even with all the crazy, Abel has always been around to help Patience and her sisters. The story explodes right from the beginning in the present with a scene involving Patience that I will not spoil because I could not do the scene justice. She is her absolute best Patience self in this scene. After this scene we jump back in time a bit and Abel finally gets his "do-over" with Patience trying to rectify what happened the first time they have sex. The story then continues back in the present for the rest of the book.
I fell even further in love with Patience and Abel with this story. One of the reasons these books are so good is because the McKinnon women are strong and independent women and they happen to fall for Sexy Alpha males. I am just grateful we as readers get to go along for the ride. This story like the others is sexy, sweet, charming, hilarious and thrilling. While this is technically a stand alone, I recommend that you read the 2 previous books first so that you are able to truly appreciate each of the characters and their backgrounds. I read this book, like the others, in one sitting because I could not put it down. In truth, I never wanted each of the books to end. You need to buy this book today!!!! You will not be disappointed!!!!
